Well one month after surgery and I feel good. I was feeling really good until tuesday when I got a sudden case of major strep throat. It was a bit conerning as it was a variant of Strep that caused my endocarditis that started this all off a year ago. I am now on heavy antibiotics and am awating the results of blood cultures to make sure it did not get into my blood stream and onto my heart valve. That would pretty much be worse case scenerio here...

Anyhow, other than that I feel great. I can finally sleep on my sides with no discomfort. I think within a week or two I might be able to sleep on my stomach which is my preferred method! Sleeping on my back has gotten old...

Anyhow, Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. My doctors, the surgeoun (Dr. Larry Schorn @ Baylor Irving) and the Infectious Disease guys have been top notch through the whole thing. I wouldn't have done anything different... anyhow, I will update this thread when the cultures come back negative ;).

Keeping my fingers crossed for negative cultures. Best wishes to you!

Sorry to read this.

One of my relatives developed recurring strep, to a dangerous degree, and she found out her husband was a carrier, although he wasn't sick with it. Is it possible you have become reinfected by the original source? Have you disposed and/or disinfected everything possible, such as pillows, toothbrushes, toothbrush holders, while keeping a separate toothpaste for your own use, etc.? Perhaps there is more that can be done that you could research?

Hope you are much better very soon. Take care and post again.
