Hi all,

I am new to this site and am so glad to find such a resource of information and support. I am not new to valve surgery. 20 years ago I had the Ross procedure but I guess with time, the valves need to be replaced. I've been going thru the monotony of testing again and have a second echo for tomorrow. During my last echo (two weeks ago), the tech (which I know is not supposed to tell me anything) mentioned that my ventricular walls are hardened and range between 1.5 to 2. What the heck does all that mean? He also says that my ventricles are enlarged. Is this all severe? They are redoing the echo because the cardiologist noticed something else and needs to redo the test with the tech in the room.

Thanks for any info and Go Dawgs!!!

I'm not sure what those numbers are referring to, but how severe having enlarged ventricles are, would depend on the measurements, they can be anything from slightly (mildly) enlarged to very or severly enlarged.

Since you are having an echo with your doctor in the room tomorrow, these would be good question to ask him or her. Since you had the ross, I would make sure to ask about which valves need to be replaced the Aortic or pulmonary or both and if it is the right or left ventricle that are enlarged.
Hopefully you will have a better idea of what is going on tomorrow. Do you have copies of your last tests? if not I'd ask about getting them.
