Highest INR you have heard of or experienced?

True. I'm not sure it's even physically possible to have an INR of 100 without bleeding out from all parts of the body.

Highest INR you have heard of or experienced?

You're correct about the reagent. I used a calculator with an average value, but didn't use exact values for that very reason.

Highest INR you have heard of or experienced?

I think your numbers are backwards. PT number is significantly higher than INR number. A PT of 100 would be an INR of over 15. An INR of 100 would be a PT in the 400s.

Treating myself before aortic valve replacement?

I worked the Thursday before my Tuesday surgery. Then my husband, 7 and 5 yo kids, and I went to San Antonio, TX for the 4 day weekend before my Tuesday surgery. We went to SeaWorld and Fiesta Texas, rode roller coasters and water slides, and had a great time. My thinking was that if I didn't...

Traveling to a different time zone, when to take warfarin

I take mine before I got to bed when I'm home and before I go to bed when I travel. That may be anywhere from 9 pm - 1 am at home and likewise when I travel, only new time.

Anyone had 3 valve replacement surgeries?

Saw this comment quoted and will admit that I didn't read all the posts that were made in the 2+ years since it was originally stated, but was there ever a poll of this group? I've only heard less than 10 people of the hundreds that I've known with mechanical valves mention that the noise...

    Bumps around chest scar

Are you sure it's the scar, or could it be the damaged nerves? I'm 26 years from surgery and I still occasionally have itching that can't be scratched because it's actually "phantom itching" from the nerves. It's worse if I'm wearing a shirt with an embroidered design or other stitching in...

    Bumps around chest scar

If you push on that area, can you feel what might be a wire underneath it? I had one sternal wire about 4 inches down from my throat that turned during the healing process and was poking me, causing sharp pain if anyone touched that section of my chest. I don't have a vertical scar and didn't...

    Croatian New member-severe aortic stenosis?

When I was almost 15 and in Texas Children's in 1976 with acute Rheumatic Fever, I saw both Denton Cooley AND Michael DeBakey! Rheumatic Fever was pretty rare then so they both brought a group of students through to examine me. Dr. Cooley and his group came the first week I was there and I was...

    Hubby back in a-fib. *sigh*

Just a note that the reason for no sweeping is because of the back and forth motion to the healing sternum. Same reason that driving is a no no. However, unless he is sweeping vigorously for an extended period of time, I doubt it will matter. As to the broken glass, he should avoid it as much...

    Hubby back in a-fib. *sigh*

Yes, Monday - Friday, in Lake Jackson Monday, Wednesday, Friday and in Houston Tuesday and Thursday. I could meet you somewhere on my way home from Houston or I'm available most weekends, so just let me know what works for you.

Sure! I don't drink coffee, but will have a soda!

    Hubby back in a-fib. *sigh*

I had my one cardiac rehab session at Houston Northwest because that's where I was working in 1998. Because of pericarditis, I had to stop, and by the time it resolved, I was past the cardiac rehab window. I could have appealed, but I was pretty active with two young kids, so really didn't...

    Hubby back in a-fib. *sigh*

It was! The bruise hung around for at least a month. Super fair skin and Warfarin. When they removed my sternal wires, my entire chest was dark black! It was ugly, especially as it started to fade, but didn't hurt!

That's her! I self test a couple of times a month, so just report my result monthly, or if it's out of range, I let them know in between. My PCP is at the Pearland facility and I did PT there after ankle surgery. Convenient to Sonic for my Route 44 Diet Dr. Pepper!

    Regarding afib

I don't know how this watch works, but remember that an EKG has 12 leads and each one shows something different. I'm assuming the watch only shows one. Also, the EKG will probably be abnormal after valve replacement because the valve isn't opening and closing the same as the native valve was...

    Hubby back in a-fib. *sigh*

This is when I slipped getting out of the shower and bounced between the toilet and tub. My INR was 2.6. It went well into my pants and eventually down my left leg. I also had a broken rib.

    Hubby back in a-fib. *sigh*

I'm not sure if my Cardiologist uses the same Coumadin clinic as your husband goes to. I work with Cathy and Patricia. They don't tell me how to adjust as my experience is more than theirs and I know my body, but he isn't there yet. In my opinion, they should have waited a couple of days and...

    Hubby back in a-fib. *sigh*

For me, 2-4 is not anything I worry about. A little below 2 is more concerning than a little above 4. However, I've been on Warfarin 26 years and nothing really bothers me.

    Hubby back in a-fib. *sigh*

I don't believe a platelet transfusion would help with anemia from blood loss.
