Didn't want to hijack the other home testing thread so I wanted start this one to ask about reagents. I called Roche customer support to ask about the difference I'm seeing between the lab and the meter I got about 5 weeks ago. They were very help full and they are sending me strips form a...
So this thread brings up a question I've had since I got my valve. I was 5 days in the hospital after the valve surgery before starting coumadin. Then I got heparin and coumadin. Seems like that 5 day period would be the same risk as any other 5 days without coumadin.
I've been on aspirin and coumadin since I left the hospital. The surgeon seemed to think that produced the best results. I wouldn't mind dropping the aspirin just not sure if I should.
I agree completely. But this is similar results to what I got 2 weeks ago. Not sure if the lab would be that far off 2 weeks in a row. Also I am usually pretty stable and in range with the dose I'm taking.
I will report back after I hear back from my guy at the clinic.
OK. Retested today. Used my wife as a baseline. She tested 1.0 with the coagucheck. Then I tested 3.6. High again. Left the house and went straight to the lab for a blood draw. That just came back at 2.9.
So now it looks like the meter tested my wife correctly but was off by .7 when testing me...
Well my vein draw came back at 2.9 yesterday at 12:30pm. 1.5 hours after the self test at 4.0. So I tried another self test this morning early and got 3.7. So yesterday I was thinking that the anibiotics that I took before getting my teeth cleaned 2 days ago had something to do with. Now I'm not...
So I just tested 4.0 this morning in my self test training class.Couldn't think of a good reason for it. Then this post reminded me that I had my teeth cleaned yesterday and I took 200mg of amoxicylan before the cleaning. I wonder if that caused it?

Just went in today for a training class on the Coagucheck XS.I tested 4.0 twice during training. So I headed to the lab for a blood draw. I'll post the results for comparison. They already advised me to skip tomorrows dose.
Whenever I leave town I always bring an extra stash in a waterproof container. Try to keep the pills in to separate places such that they are not likely to both get lost. I keep a three day supply in both cars and the boat. On vacations I throw a package in my wife's purse or suitcase.
Great charts Pellicle. When I miss a day I tend to add 1/4 of my dose to the next 2 days. Not to much different from your scenario.
I think it's always hard to know unless you have accurate number from a day or two before the missed dose.

I used to use an Alere Inratio2 until Kaiser (my insurance) decided they were not accurate. Once evey couple of months I did a home test and then went straight to a vein draw that is sent out to a lab. It was consistently within 0.2 or better. I will be getting a coagucheck next week and I plan...
After my surgery at 55 I stabilized pretty quickly. Then a few weeks later when I got back in the gym my INR number did start to drop and I had to increse my dosage about 25%. Over all I think you will ultimately be more stable with exercise and the higher dose.
I assume that you meant Kaiser not Alere. There was no mention of sending a coagucheck meter instead. The person that I talked to wasn't sure how Kaiser would ultimately handle this due to the large number of meters out there. They're solution for now is back to lab testing. In my case this is...
I got a letter from Kaiser Permanente lats week to stop using my Alere meter. I also got a phone call this morning. Frustrating because about a month ago I lab tested and self tested within 2 hours of each other and got identical results. They didn't ask for the tester back though. They just...
King, you look fantastic. I'm in the gym 5 times a week myself. Keep pushing that weight and try to lift a little more each week or two. Form follows function so as your strength increases so will your muscle mass. And as the muscle mass increases more fat will be burned. The next thing you know...
Odie,
I am 58 with an AVR and aortic root graft and I push weights pretty heavy every morning. I don't push quite as much as I used to but it's mostly just due to age. When I was 50 I was bench pressing 300lb on a good. Lately I'm happy with 250lb.
Ease into the chest work until your sure your...
