    I’m in the system!

Hi "Stan" coincidentally I went through an aortic valve replacement at the end of November 2023 which was a breeze, I went into the OR/Cath Lab (this hospital is one of the very few that have combined an OR and a cath lab). My first valve was a porcine valve at age 59 (Feb 2011) along with an...

The good news is that today I found a new cardiologist who I think is brilliant. While is office is at Cedars he helps his patients select surgeons (from varied facilities) who best fit their needs and profile. He has referred me to a surgeon at Keck-USC that he feels is a super star in the...

Thank you very much Chris! I agree, and I have been leaning toward Cedars but was unaware of the "bumping" issue with UCLA. This is good to know. Thanks for the good wishes also. :)

Thanks for the reply Laurie. Yes the heart cath is to determine if there is a bypass necessary also. He said something about determining velocity of blood flow also but maybe I misunderstood. I have been reading many stickies and many threads trying to prepare for valve choices, pre-op and...

Hello, My GP detected a murmur last November. I hadn't noticed any symptoms and had no insurance so I waited until January to be seen by a cardiologist. He performed an EKG and echocardicardiograph and diagnosed me with severe aortic stenosis at a minimum. Also, I managed to get coverage...
