Any issues with one kidney & AVR

Congestive Heart Failure is something your doctors are going to have to pay special attention to, if you ever develop that. And in light of your heart situation and the one kidney, I think it is prudent to have a nephrologist as a doctor you could consult with when needed. The one kidney and...

No one should leave over this. It's between Ross and Hank and it should stay that way. And the other site is a very nice site. Join both and enjoy them both for the personalities of both. There is nothing wrong with a slightly different point of view. It serves to give a more balanced view of...

    Newbie question

Always remember that Coumadin changes take approx. 3 days to show up in INR testing, which is why they don't do any wide swings with it, or shouldn't. That sets you up for a see-saw effect. So slow and steady is a good thing. Testing too frequently just makes everything messed up because you...

A few odd little things happening with me.....

How is your gallbladder? When I had gallbladder attacks, the pain was right between my shoulder blades and radiated around my right side. It was a deep achy pain. It also made me nauseous and I had loss of appetite.

A few odd little things happening with me.....

Larry, different diuretics act in different ways in the system. Joe was on a very high dose of Lasix, but his doctor often had to add Zaroxolyn which boosts the effect of Lasix. There were also times when he was on Lasix plus Spironolactone (Aldactone), which acts on a slightly different aspect...

A few odd little things happening with me.....

Sudden weight gain like that seems to point to fluid retention. Not everyone gets swollen ankles from fluid retention. Some people also get it in the abdominal area (ascites). That may be what has happened to you. If it gets into the abdominal area, it can get into the liver and cause nausea...

    Buying on eBay

Just be careful about the used ones. How do you know just how "used" they are. They could have come from a doctor's office and had been in use every day all day long for a few years. I'm sure there would be no warranty on that type. And check out the seller's return policies. Some sellers do...

    Chemical stress test................

Joe had several of those. He thought they were no big deal. But that was Joe. I do think they speed up your heart and may make you feel a little uncomfortable. But they are important if you need to get to the bottom of things. I am sure you will be just fine and they will keep a very watchful...

    Trouble Eating?

If you were prescribed Potassium by your doctor, you must take it. I am assuming that you are on Lasix. If so, Lasix washes potassium out of your system and it has to be replaced. Do not adjust your potassium without running it by your doctor. It is vitally important to your health. Call your...

repeat AVR looming after only 6 years!

regarding whether a valve is failing or a stitch has come loose, I can tell you what Joe's surgeron said. He said, "Joe, a stitch has come loose and is causing these symptoms", not that the valve was failing. And he went in and fixed the stitch and did not do a whole valve redo. So, I believe...

repeat AVR looming after only 6 years!

Frankly, I think there is too much evidence that tissue valves do deteriorate in younger people faster, and it would be very hard to sue for that reason.

    Lefrak Retires!

cute video! I remember going to a large corporate manager's retirement party. He gave his final speech and told his woman boss that she could take the pager she gave him and insert it where the sun don't shine. He got a fine round of applause on that one.

    Sodium Restrictions

Luana, it was Anne Burrell I was thinking of. I just read an article about professional chefs getting so used to the taste of salt that they think normal seasoning has no taste, so they keep adding more and more. Every time I see a judge on "Chopped" complain that the dish has no seasoning, I...

    Sodium Restrictions

If you watch the Food Network, some of those professional chefs use way too much salt. It's an epidemic in this country. The FDA is trying to get food manufacturers to lower the salt and sodium content of their processed foods. This is a good thing.
