    First trip back to cardiologist

Bill, Thanks for the encouraging words! I am going to keep on keeping on. My goal is to encourage others. I've even thought about making heart pillows for people.

    First trip back to cardiologist

ShezaGirlie, You are so right....it is God's Country. I just love Austin. I can't wait to walk the campus one day. When I took her for orientation, I was so winded due to this valve I was always lagging. My goal in 2012 (when she graduates) is to be able to walk the entire UT campus without...

    First trip back to cardiologist

I think the thing that really helped with this visit is I was a little teary eyed. I had been for several days. I just got a little bold and demanded he sit and talk to me. I wanted to know what all they did to me, I wanted to know what my future entailed, discussed that I did not want to have...

    Coumadin and Fruit

Thanks everyone. I am learning and have been so happy because I have had no issues with my levels. Tonight we went to Luby's cafeteria and I had a small bowl of fruit salad....chopped apples, grapes, bananas, and peaches....it was so good and wonderful for the taste buds....even hubby enjoyed a...

    First trip back to cardiologist

I had my first visit with cardiologist and pulmonologist post surgery and all of my news was perfect. Echo was beautiful Chest/Lungs Scans were perfect Pacemaker was tested by Boston Scientific while in office and they were able to turn it down (voltage) and everything was firing perfectly...

3rd OHS over and looking for advice.

I had my two week check up today and was able to sit my doc down and just fire away, so I am much better this evening. Echo was beautiful, pacemaker was turned down regarding voltage, and he was extremely pleased....went to pulmonary after cardio and all scans were beautiful as well. I told...

3rd OHS over and looking for advice.

I am newbie at all of this and ONE OHS has been enough for me. Does having one surgery just make you prone to have others? This terrifies me. I hope to God when they went in this first time they got me fixed. Does getting a new valve make other parts of the heart go bad or what? I have a new...

Pain turned out to not be a big deal for me

Dyna, I'd deliver 5 more of those 10 pounders than do this OHS again...hehe.

    Something refreshing

I just thought I'd share a cute story. Since I've been home, my cat has not left my side. She follows me everywhere. At night she lays right next to me and tries to "purr" me to healing. She's always been close to everyone else in the house and would most times find one of the kids or hubby to...

Pain turned out to not be a big deal for me

You all are very lucky. I normally have a high pain tolerance. I deliver 10 lb. babies, very seldom need pain meds, etc., but this surgery knocked every ounce of energy out of me. With all the complications in surgery and ICU, I'd be terrified knowing I had to do it again.

    Long Term Complications

I kind of wonder if Clicker feels as though I do. I still feel I have alot of unanswered questons. I know I had one of the best hospitals and surgeons that I could have asked for, but I was discharged with alot of unanswered questions. My surgery was so sudden, I didn't have alot of time to...

    Is it normal?

Thanks everyone....hubby says if this continues we are going to ER this evening. I just find it weird to feel so good last week and before and then so bad this week.

    Stuff happens, I guess

Hey Big Al, I am not sure what you teach, but here is a tip.. Always wear your teacher's badge. My former principal always told her teachers this. I thought she was crazy. I got pulled over a few months ago and popped my badge on right where he could see it. I was going 56 in a 30. He asked...

    Is it normal?

I got fluid in the lungs really bad afterwards and had to go back on the tube. I am not sure what else I had. I do have a visit Monday.....was supposed to see cardiologist Friday but he had an emergency surgery. I see cardio and pulmonary both on Monday.

    Is it normal?

I am 4 weeks post op on Tuesday, but feel worse this week than I have the last three weeks. I was outside walking and actually feeling lots better until this week. My energy is zilch and I feel somewhat depressed. I am really trying not to feel this way. I am not on any meds except the...

Still have fluid around the heart

Should you go in and ask for a full blood workup? I've been curious about this. I too, lost alot of blood so anemia set in. They just told me to take iron twice daily. My B6 and B12 were messed up before surgery, but they put me on something called Folbee and it's made me feel better. Should...

    Feeling kinda useless

Jim, I have been feeling the same way. I am 4 weeks post op and it seems like I gotten worse than better (my mental attitude anyway). I told my husband yesterday that I am ready to hang it up. My home has gone to the animals and I don't care. We went to the doc yesterday and hubby had to beg me...

    Coumadin and Fruit

Is there any fruit that one must stay away from while on Coumadin? I'm not really wanting much to eat right now, but fruit and some of the fruit shakes are sounding good. I know this is probably a dumb question, but I'm learning.
