    Atenolol

Are Atenolol and Metoprolol very similar/the same? I have the same question that I was going to start a thread about, and I saw yours at the same time. I will start a new thread if they are not the same, but I am thinking my question might be answered here as well. I have been on Metoprolol...

    Good News - I think. . .

Steve, this is great news. You had your surgery just before mine, so I have been watching your progress from the start closely. I am very happy to hear that you are less dependent, and please update us on how your exercise regime goes.

    Problems with lisinoprol

Jason, did you have surgery here in Fargo, or did you travel somewhere else to have it done? As to the dizziness, I never did have extreme dizziness. I did have episodes where I found it hard to focus my eyes, and particularly when driving this can be worrisome to say the least. I haven't had...

    Gotta go again

I was in the same camp as Norm, going much more during the night and days after surgery. For me, I took it to heart when they told me to stay hydrated to avoid rhythm issues, so I was drinking a lot more than normal and sleeping a lot less. That has all come back to normal, though, as my sleep...

Unstable sternum and wound opening up with terrible scars.

Wowza! This would have me pretty concerned. I didn't have issues with the surface wound, but my sternum did take a while to finally stop scraping around. I agree with the others, in that I would want very thorough checks to ensure that infection isn't an issue. I wish you the best as you...

Bina, I missed this when you first posted it, but wanted to say congratulations. You have been a big help to me as I worked through the first six to seven months of this post-operation life.

    Stuck heart rate

Sorry Bobby, but I am not any help to you on this one. I did have Atrial Flutter after my heart surgery, but for me it was a very rapid heartbeat that was also irregular. I would go from 135-160, skip a beat here and there, etc. I went into A-Flutter three times, and twice my body came out of...

How common is this " coughing " issue after mini stern ? That I am reading about

Sorry I can't help you, Nancy. I didn't have any sort of coughing after surgery, nor did I have a mini-sternotomy. I have the big scar and never did have any coughing fits. I did try to sneeze once before I should have, and that hurt! Hope someone else comes by with your answer.

    Bad shoulder pain after AVR

I had shoulder pain, but it was under the left shoulder blade. It was never bad enough that I couldn't sleep that I recall, but there was definitely some pain for quite some time after surgery. I hope yours clears up too!
