    Anxiety about upcoming surgery.

Thank you for the insight! I’m 51 years old and have been cancer free from colon cancer for almost 5 years. The constipation worries me a little bit since I have a very small rectum and they took a foot and a half of my colon out as well. I take Imodium every day just to slow down my bowels...

Thank you so much Jill. Your post was very informative. Trying to stay positive, the waiting and worrying I think is the hardest part. January 23 can not get here soon enough .

    Anxiety about upcoming surgery.

It’s funny Tom because I don’t feel bad at all. I still get on a stationary bike and/or walk on treadmill whenever I want. I also have no problems playing ping pong with my family. Maybe I will feel better after the valve replacement and I just think I feel fine when in all actuality I am...

    Anxiety about upcoming surgery.

Thanks, I see you had minimally invasive with a 3 inch incision, unfortunately I am having a full sternum and a single bypass. Hopefully everything is as smooth as yours was.

    Anxiety about upcoming surgery.

I just got my pre surgical physical yesterday and my anxiety is finally starting to hit me pretty hard. I talked to pharmacist, anesthesiologist, cardio nurse, and had an ekg, blood drawn and an X-ray. They gave me I think a 100 page handbook about the heart, and procedure, what to expect and...

Most likely going with a mechanical .

Well just got back from the surgeons office today and I will be having my surgery on January 23. Unfortunately I have a small artery that is 70% blocked and I will need bypass surgery along with my aortic valve. We have decided on the ON X mechanical valve for me. I am a little freaked out...

Most likely going with a mechanical .

Thanks, my cardiologist has not gotten back to me yet. To be honest I don’t think I will be able to do the new valve. I see my cardiac surgeon on Wednesday and I we’ll probably go with the on x valve. I am pushing the 1 to 2 months timeline he gave me and I don’t want to Damage my heart by...

Most likely going with a mechanical .

They have already transplanted it in a man from Michigan in July from what I’ve read on the site. If that’s the case how much longer before mainstream. I’m not familiar with the time frame of early feasibility to clinical trials to fda approval.

Most likely going with a mechanical .

Has anyone heard of a company called foldax that makes a new valve called the tria valve . It’s a mechanical valve that requires no anti coagulation drugs. It has been implanted in one human subject in Michigan, but I can’t find any information if it is available for new aortic patients yet...

Most likely going with a mechanical .

Okay I have been wavering between tissue and mechanical, but I believe the best option for me is the mechanical route. Every one here as convinced me Coumadin is not a big deal and my cardiologist tells me mechanical is the way. So my question is what is the best mechanical valve? Pros/cons? I...

Getting ready for an cardiac angiogram.

They went in through the wrist. My surgeon likes the wrist and will do everything possible to go that route. They shaved everywhere 😬 so he had plenty of options.!

Getting ready for an cardiac angiogram.

Well I’m clear . Very minimal calcification on a few arteries. Nothing to worry about. Was not fully asleep and could feel them moving throughout my veins and arteries . Kinda of creepy. No pain.
