Post Aortic valve replacement. Are roller coasters safe to ride?

After an AVR 7 yrs ago I asked my FAA doc about doing aerobatics. While I can't remember exactly what he said, I do recall he warned me of not pulling more than 3 or 4 Gs . Anything more there may be a slight chance of a tear especially in the first year or so. He should be fine but I would...

My TAVR was a non event compared to my previous OHS which left me in the hospital for a month due to sepsis.

Transcatheter or Surgical Replacement for Failed Bioprosthetic Aortic Valves; New study published May 22, 2024

I have no idea if that had anything to do with it. I have heard that there is a class action against the valve manufacturer claiming that some of the valves were defective

Transcatheter or Surgical Replacement for Failed Bioprosthetic Aortic Valves; New study published May 22, 2024

The initial AVR was done when I was 73. The valve was a St Jude Trifecta GT model TFGT-25A. I was and still am in good physical shape with no other health problems , very active with BMI of 25. The Trifecta deteriorated quickly, my guess is about 6 months. My concern is what is the...

    12 Years on Trifecta

Had Trifecta implanted in May 2017. Last May had echo and it showed moderate leakage but was stable and I was put on watch alert for further problems. Everything was fine until about October 2023 when I started to notice a cough and need to have head raised in bed. About Thanksgiving 2023...

    TAVR

Well, back home after the TAVR. Was in the hospital appx 48 hrs. The procedure went well and was actually a lot easier , at least on me, than I had anticipated. The whole thing took less than2 hrs. A Medtronic 26mm Evolt Pro was inserted. The least amount of contrast dye was used to do the job...

    TAVR

No, I did not know of the Trifecta recall. Thank you very much for that. Mild leakage stared about two years after the OHS and stayed fairly stable for another two years or so. Last May,6 yrs post op, fatigue started again and last month I had an echo which showed advanced deterioration...

How has it been since your Valve replacement?

3 yrs 6 months on St Jude Trifecta. Was just told that there is moderate leakage. Testing to follow. Feel good with no adverse symptoms. Asked about a TAVR when the time comes. Answer was a definite maybe. Wondering why a valve would misbehave so soon.

    Smart Watch etc. Heart Arrythmias

Have had a Kardia for a little over two years now. I love it. I use it daily and has picked up AFIB early on. Very comforting to be able to see what your heart is doing anytime you want.

    Cough

I too had a heck of a cough post AVR. Mine lasted longer than expected maybe that was partly due to the sepsis I contracted in the hospital. I rolled up at towel and held it to my chest and it helped a lot. I does go away.
