    Minor milestone today, 3 months

I meant daily. I do test weekly. 😂

    Minor milestone today, 3 months

    I'm aware. That's why I don't test weekly. 👍

    Minor milestone today, 3 months

I have 5mg and 2.5mg so all of my doses come from those pills. I'm currently at 10mg daily, but I have had slight dose variations. For example 10mg per day except 8.75mg on Tuesday and Thursday. I attribute this to the pill sizes I am prescribed not always easily dividing perfectly into a daily...

    Minor milestone today, 3 months

If I'm in a situation where I think I'm too low, I'll go get a blood draw, or call the clinic and come clean, or redose myself. It's working for the moment. I'm happy. I'm almost always in range. I'd probably have a second TIA if I put as much thought into it as some of you guys do. Everyone...

    Minor milestone today, 3 months

Thanks. I'm good. I got the receipts. No assumptions here.

    Minor milestone today, 3 months

I figured out how to deal with my INR clinic after they gave me some wacky instructions. Also my Coagucheck XS is 0.3 to 0.4 higher than blood draws. I report INRs at what I believe they are through an app. If my machine results are 2.5, I report 2.2. I had tried explaining that the machine is...

    Warfarin and Asprin

My last cardiologist said that warfarin blocks vitamin k clotting factors and that aspirin makes the blood cells "slippery".

    Importance of "heart valve card"

I keep my valve and pacemaker card in my wallet. No one ever wants to see them. I had a medical alert necklace and I lost it. Has anyone seen it? LOL

Anyone have a valve replacement AND a pacemaker?

Wow! I thought there were only a couple of us. I acquired 3rd degree heart block during AVR in 2016. I had pacemaker installed before going home. It was mostly a psychological blow to me. I had mentally prepared for AVR for 17 years. I didn't prepare for a pacemaker at all. I agree with everyone...

    INR is low

    Same here. I don't think I've wasted a strip in 2 years!

New and Need Advise - Aortic Stenosis

I have had a St Jude mechanical valve since January 2016. I test my INR at home and I don't have any complaints about the process. My involvement in my successful INR management is less than 10 minutes per week (this includes taking pills, loading my pill box, testing and reporting my results)...

    CoaguChek error 8

Every time I get a blood draw, I also use my Coaguchek. The blood draw is usually .2 to .3 lower than my meter. I decided a while back to report .3 lower than what the meter says because I know that if I report a 2.0, I am in reality a 1.7 and they won't change my dose (range is 2.0 to 3.0). I...

Cough and cold prior to valve replacement

I had the exact same experience at about the same time frame before my AVR. I had a slight cold. I was super stressed they were going to reschedule. I took the week before off and stayed in my house to recover and not catch anything worse. Everything worked out okay.

    Tapping on sternum

I used to get a pop in my chest at the end of a deep breath, but that has mostly gone away.

Mini stoke at 2.1 INR. Wth:(

I also take low dose aspirin. My cardiologist explained it this way: Warfarin slows clotting/ aspirin makes your blood cells more slippery. I never researched what he said, I just take the aspirin. The reason I spent a long time in the hospital was that when they did the first CT scan of my...

Mini stoke at 2.1 INR. Wth:(

I had a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) 10 days after OHS. I had just turned 38 years old. These are also referred to as a mini stroke or a warning stroke. An MRI confirmed that there was no damage caused. My symptoms were confusion and loss of short term memory for approximately 1 day followed...

2 Years with my St. Jude Mechanical

I feel pretty "normal". Things are going well. I am used to AC therapy. I am grateful that I get a chance to see my kids grow up. Thanks to everyone who shares information on this board, since people in the real world don't seem to have ever heard of bicuspid aortic valves. Thanks to Pellicle...

    Newbie Looking for Advice

It was frustrating and annoying at first. It's easy now. I definitely recommend weekly home testing with occasional lab draws. Pellicle was very helpful. It was the first time I'd spoken to someone while they were in Australia.
