    Surgery to feel better?

You will feel better! I didn't feel that I had any symptoms. It used to take me 2 days to clean up one side of my house in the spring, now that part of the yard is a snap and I can continue doing yard work. I can out work my S/O with no problem and my fellow co-workers lol For me, that's how I...

Splitting Coumadin tablets - NO NO or OK????

What your sister says makes sense. Going from 5mg to 7.5mg is rather a big jump in dosage. What was your last INR result? Speaking for myself (and maybe a few others) a slow increase in dosage of 5% is better than making a large increase. Otherwise you may find yourself on a 'roller coaster'...

    Veinous blood at 6.0!

Maybe you don't need any more pain killers? I don't suggest even trying Voltaren. Individuals taking oral blood thinners or anticoagulants (for example, warfarin [Coumadin]) should avoid diclofenac (Voltaren) because diclofenac also thins the blood, and excessive blood thinning may lead to...

    Veinous blood at 6.0!

from Drugs.com/ interaction Using warfarin together with traMADol may cause you to bleed more easily. You may need a dose adjustment based on your prothrombin time or International Normalized Ratio (INR). Call your doctor promptly if you have any unusual bleeding or bruising, vomiting, blood in...

Chest cracking and tiny bumps on sternum scar...

Personally I wouldn't think after 9 months the chest would be still cracking and would ask the doctor. It doesn't hurt to get it checked out and get an x-ray done. The bone should already be healed.

    red/ brown spots

My first thought with the brown spots could be 'age spots' as for the raised red spots, I have one on my arm. It's slightly raised and just thought another beauty mark was appearing, but I really don't know what either could be in your case. If you're somewhat concerned, ask your doctor. Sorry...

    What's the scoop on bruising

I've had may fair share with bruising, in fact I have one on my thigh right now that's a size and shape of an egg if not bigger - INR 3.3 and I've had a black eye and I know how it happened in both occasions. ICE is the answer, 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. I saw the doctor when I had the black...

    First heavy cough post surgery!!!

Personally I found that when you are caught off guard without your pillow and you have a quick choking/cough or sneeze, giving yourself a firm hug helps with the pain. Another little trick that I learned years ago for when you feel that sneeze coming is to lightly rub that "tickle" you feel on...

    POC not reading INRs correctly

Wow, this is really odd. They used two different monitors and basically the results were the same. The only thing I can think of is the possibility of the monitors are on 1 of 2 different settings (beside the INR setting). On the Coaguchek XS unit you can set the monitor to read in a %Q - which...

video demo - how I get enough blood regularly

Check your other thread. Hands are washed with warm water and the first drop is to used. You can also place your finger on the edge of the strip so your sample can be "sucked up".

    POC not reading INRs correctly

Aggie, you mention that "they" wipe the the first drop off. With the coaguchek XS monitor you/"they" are suppose to use the 1st drop of blood. Also, what are they wiping it with? A dry gauze or with alcohol? Rubbing alcohol is not necessary and could also effect the results. FWIW

    Joke time

Getting a hairdryer through customs... A distinguished young woman on a flight from Ireland asked the Priest beside her, 'Father, may I ask a favour?' 'Of course, child. What may I do for you?' 'Well, I bought an expensive woman's electronic hair dryer for my mother's birthday that is...

InRatio 2 strip rrecall - important

My instructor told me, 'that you do not need refrigerate the CoaguChek XS test strips'. PTN may think it's a good idea to put them in the refrigerator on hot days, problem with that is on hot days your refrigerator runs longer and more often, which in turn makes items somewhat colder. I also...

What type of valve is best for me?

Mina - it's not recommended in Canada, and as you said: 'As far as I understand it is true that Plavix isn't as easily reversed as warfarin'. I suggest you start another thread on Plavix if you wish, so this thread doesn't get 'highjacked' from Prem's initial question.
