I think the concerne is is when you get over 100*. I was was bumping just under 100* and my general put me on some antibiotics. My surgeon didn't seem concerned at all. He said it's all part of the program and it will settle down.
Seems like your resting HR is pretty good. I wonder of your running HR will start to drop after your back into a regular running routine. Also I think recovery time is also a good indicator of cardiac health.
Lots of good leg stuff. I did some today after cardio. Then I got curious so I tried one of the bicep machines. Basically the preacher curl but on a machine. Seemed like once I got my arms on the support pads I could do the curls without straining my chest. I did go pretty light. I also had good...
I asked my guy at the coumadin clinic yesterday. Because I finally got back to my numbers after antibiotics. He said it did have some effect but not big. He didn't change my dose. He just said we'll see after the next test.
I have lost so much body mass. I have shirts that just droop off of those things that used to be my shoulders. I have not worked out since early January. It wasn't to bad as long as I kept up other activities but after the surgery when I did nothing but sit around it just fell off of me.
Ovie,
I'm at 5 weeks and I don't worry about my incision in the shower any more. I just get in there and use the body wash my wife leaves in the shower. At 9 weeks you should be fine. Don't know about the itching. I haven't reached that stage yet. But my sternum has felt very tight the last...
Good call Vadim. I did just that this morning and it worked well. About 35 minutes on a cardio machine and then some leg work. Seems like the trick is to able to use the machine without holding on with you hands. I did play with a few ab exercises but they were a no go.
I checked my weight on...
Tabitha,
Don't worry about the metoprolol. You may not have any problems with it at all. And if you do there are lots of alternatives. I fully agree with Bina's opinion and will be be pushing my cardiologist for an alternative but I don't find the side effects to a huge proble. More of an...
I was just tired of walking around my neighborhood so I thought I would try the gym. I got in about 35 minutes on a precore machine. Got my heart rate up to about 115. Tried to work on some core exercises but my sternum said stop. I'l try again on Monday morning I think.
I do have the option of going back part time if I want to. Fortunately we are not really busy right now but will be picking up in a couple of months. My 2 issues right now are my sternum still being tender and the metoprolol making me kind of slugish and not to ambitious. Hopefully both of these...
And the final test is when the surgeon tells you after surgery that your valve was way worse than they thought. He said I should actually notice the increased blood flow. That hasn't actually happened yet. Maybe once I get back to full activity.
The impression I got through all of my tests is...
I have been on Metoprolol since I left the hospital a little over 3 weeks ago. Now that I am feeling mostly pretty good I'm starting to notice that the metoprolol slows my interest in most things including romance. I know it's still a little early but that's the way I am. I was on it about a...
Pyjamas with buttons. I tended to be the type that wore PJ bottoms with Tshirts. Pull over stuff is difficult (painfull) to get on and off while the sternum is healing. Same goes for shirts.
Vehicles. It's recomended that you stay away from airbags. And trucks and SUVs can be dificult to climb...
Les,
I strongly recomend the recliner. If you can, get the electric type that will almost stand you up. My dad had one before he died and my wife got the kids to haul it over to our house while I was in the hospital. It made it so easy to get up and down out of it. I slept in it for about 3...
So glad to add another success story to our list. I'm sure being home feels wonderful. Getting tired is to be expected. There doesn't seem to be any rhym or reason to when it hits.
For now just rest, relax and recover. Don't push yourself.
