    Hello again

Hi Northernlights, thank you for your great post, very helpful. I just want to be clear, I am not saying that the NHS are poor, I'm saying that they might not be as conservative as perhaps the U.S. As also with up to date tech stuff etc. it does depend on the hospital aswell, as you said...

    Hello again

Cldlhd, are you having second thoughts about surgery or you're saying that you are ready to do the surgery?

    Hello again

But also, in regards to my point, I was thinking that there are 2 reasons for someone to have their aorta replaced, 1. Could be the measurements location, as mentioned above, hence 46mm in root and 46mm in proximal ascendic might have different views and 2. The conservative approach by the system.

    Hello again

Interesting Paleogirl - I do believe that surgeons in U.S are more up to date with recent techs etc. and some of them take real interest on BAV and aortopathology, like svensson, griepp etc. I know there are some advances in UK such as the aortic wrap developed by the Marfan engineer, but it...

    Hello again

Whilst here you have less choice, I.e a letter usually from the hospital saying you're having surgery. No interviewing surgeons or anaesthesiologists. Unless you are like me and plan to request specific surgeons etc, which you are allowed. However this approach is not embedded in the system and...

    Hello again

That's very true! the hospitals here are in a lot of pressure to save money etc, and you could see it from the quality of treatment you receive. I'm not saying it's bad, but not as good as private hospitals. US are driven by insurances, but ultimately, if a surgeon says it's time, I beleive that...

    Hello again

Basically in UK they can't afford to do it earlier! That's a scary thought! Well hopefully you can prove me wrong.

    Hello again

This is all really great information. I believe that there seem to be a slight dis ambiguity of the actual surgery triggers in correlation to the position of the dilation. The root is slightly larger by structure and therefore 46mm in root might not be that concerning (in fact, in some...

    Hello again

That's funny Valdab, that will definitely be a one heck of an aorta :) we do share exactly the same statistics. Interesting! What did doctors tell you? ... I am so anxious, can't get off the net searching now! Cldhld, are you facing surgery because of your aorta only or your valve aswell...

    Hello again

Hi all, Happy new year! It's been over 1.5 years since I last posted. I am really sorry everyone, but tried not to feed my anxiety and made my very best to stop researching over the net. However, I am due my yearly check up next week and I thought to say hello. My aorta last year was 46-47mm and...

I've been offered a job, what shall I do.....

Hi, Thank you for your replies so far. I think one of the questions is whether I have a health condition which prevents me from doing my job, but this does not prevent me doing my job. You are right, they cannot withdraw job offer because I have BAV! that will be wrong surely. And yes...

I've been offered a job, what shall I do.....

Dear all, I'm in a peculiar situation at the moment. I've been in my current role for around 4.5 years and I finally decided that it's time to move on, so around a month ago I applied for a role with one of the big 4 accounting practices. I've been through the interview stages and today, to...
