    Diarrhoea :-)

Glad you're feeling better. Antibiotics will definitely cause havoc with your digestive system. Taking probiotics will help get the good bugs back in your gut and hopefully help out some.

    Bridging for the first time.

Hey Pellicle, Haven't been on in a few days and saw your message. No worries, INR test today was 2.68 so I'm in good shape. Cheers!

    Bridging for the first time.

So I had my blood draw this morning and my INR was only 1.7. I took my regular dose last nite since I didn't want to overshoot my mark....guess I should have done another double dose. Looks like I'll need to take the Lovenox shots for a few more days.

Not sure why you think I feel that way about your opinion, I don't believe we've even gotten into a debate about anything in the past. I listen to any and all opinions, and then I use my best judgement to act or not act on those opinions. No bad feelings on this end mate. 😀

    Bridging for the first time.

So I had my colonoscopy yesterday, and when they did my blood work the previous morning, my INR was at 1.2. Last night I resumed the Lovenox injections and took a double dose of my Warfarin (9 mgs total). I'll keep doing the shots and double dose of warfarin until my blood draw on Friday and...

Giving myself my first Lovenox injection.

So today was the first day of me bridging for a procedure on Tuesday. So I figured since others may find this helpful, I would write about it. First things first, wash the hands. You need to give your self a shot in the stomach, about 2 inches from your belly button. You swab the area with...

    Cardiologist in North Carolina

So there's a good possibility my wife and I will be relocating to the Cary / Raleigh, NC area. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience or recommendations for cardiologists in that area. Thanks! ~Marc

    Colonoscopy while on Coumadin

I'm the lucky writer of that post that Pellicle linked. I start to adjust my meds and diet tomorrow. By the way, my instructions for after the procedure have changed since I first posted. I will now be taking both the Lovenox shots and my Warfarin together, until my INR gets back into my 2.5 -...

    Noisy valve

I've had my mechanical valve since 2012. In the beginning it seemed a little loud, and my wife could hear it when she was close to me. As time went on, it got softer, and now my wife can only hear it if it's a quiet room and she is really close to me. The ticking is so soft now, that I...

    Bridging for the first time.

After going back and forth with my doctor's office and expressing my concerns about not being "protected" for so long after my procedure, they agreed to have me on Lovenox until my INR is back in my normal range of 2.5 - 3.5. They also moved my Blood Draw to the 29th since the 30th is a...

    Bridging for the first time.

Sooo on the 26th of this month, I'm having my first colonoscopy performed (yah for me!), and will be bridging for the first time. I received my instructions from my cardiologists office yesterday, and wanted some input from people who have done this before. Just wanted to know if this was...

Mobile Apps for INR monitoring and Warfarin Reminders

I've used OAT book for a number of years now. It tracks my results and also has a daily reminder to take my medicine (which is good when I'm traveling).

    Fiber anyone?

Ok, so since I've had one bout of diverticulitus, my GI doctor wants me to stay on a high fiber diet. Does anyone have any information if suppliments like Benefiber or Fiber Choice tablets interact with warfarin? I've tried to search on the web and the boards, but didn't see anything. Oh...

    warfarin advice

I usually take my meds at night, when I take the kids up to bed, and I also have a phone app that I record my INR in and it also has an alarm in it. I also use a vitamin K phone app that I personally love. It tells you how much K is in a particular piece of food and you can record how many...

    Dosing thoughts?

Tested my INR yesterday and it was at 2.7. I'm glad it's finally back in range and I'll check it again tomorrow just to make sure it's still in range. I'll be glad once I'm done with the meds and off of this restrictive diet. On the plus side, I dropped about 10 lbs in a about a week since...

    Dosing thoughts?

So I didn't follow my cardio' advice and kept my doses the same. I checked my INR this morning and it's down to 2.2. I usually take 6mgs tonight, I wonder if I should bump it up to 7.5mgs.

    Dosing thoughts?

Since my INR was at the low end, I've stopped taking it. It's gives a nice little increase to your daily K (about 48 micrograms), when you aren't able to eat what you normally do.
