    sternum wires

I still get a cracking sound from my sternum, sometimes the first time I do a really good stretch. It doesn't concern me though, because I was having that happen before my surgery.

I miss my old Blackberry, just saying.......

    Kiwi Fruit

Keep in mind that Kiwi has a fair amount of Vitamin K in it, approximately 27.8 micrograms per Kiwi (according to the U.S.D.A.), so if you start eating a lot of them and you notice an INR drop, it's probably that. And yes there are delicious, my youngest son and I can eat bowls of them by...

Permanent diminished immune system after OHS?

Kids bring home the nastiest of colds from daycare and the daycare facility itself can be a little incubator. Both of my kids went to daycare, and they were always bringing something home. So probably the first year after surgery, I was always getting little colds. But as the kids got older...

    Successful surgery, various complications

I had some really bad shoulder pains after surgery, but once I was medically cleared, I went to my chiropractor (who i see for lower back issues) and he got me back to feeling better again in a few sessions. No problems with my shoulders since then.

    Cold weather and incision

I'm 3 1/2 years out from surgery, and I'm a cold weather person. I don't notice it at all. It will get better over time probably.

"I'm too scared to lose you."

My wife has always been a pillar of strength for me and our family. I learned about my condition and that I would eventually need surgery while we were still newlyweds and she stood by my side and didn't abandon me. We had our teary moments, but she never really lost it in front of me. The...

    loss of appetite

It took me a few weeks before my appetite was back to normal. At times, I just had to force myself to eat. Last thing your body needs to be is malnourished.

    Coughing Fits after OHS

I was taking Lisinopril after surgery, and it made me cough all the time. I told my cardio about it, and he said they call it the "Lisinopril Cough". Sure enough, once I came off of it, the coughing stopped.

    Question for the guys

Moving in a few months to North Carolina, so I'll need to find new doctors for everything anyways.

    Dental clean after Valve Replacement

When I had my surgery a few years ago, I needed written dental clearance from my dentists office right before the surgery took place and I had to wait 6 months for any invasive procedure. I believe that is the norm in the US now. The doctors want to avoid any chance of bacteria from a dental...

    Question for the guys

Well it seems like the doc was right, and the "time heals all wounds" adage applies here. No sign of blood in over a week. It did make me freak out whenever I saw it, but I'm glad it's over. Makes me wonder if this will happen at my next colonoscopy in 10 years.

    Question for the guys

And the weird thing is, there's no pain. Just a lot on un-needed stress.

    Question for the guys

Ok, so here's something that's a little embarrassing, but I wanted to know if any of the gents have had any situations like this. As you know, I was bridging with Lovenox since I needed a colonoscopy. On my last day of my Lovenox, I noticed blood in my semen (yikes)! I quickly looked up...

    Induction oven and mechanical valve

Didn't think it would be a problem. Now my wife needs to figure out another way to collect on my life insurance! :Face-Laugh:

    Induction oven and mechanical valve

This may be a stupid question, but do us mechanical valvers have to worry about being around induction ovens since they basically use magnets to cook? We were looking at maybe getting one, but wasn't sure if this could be a problem for me. ~Marc
