Rich -- I found this online, Things you may already know but maybe there is a useful nugget of additional info in here somewhere. https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/007483.htm Also, stress can cause bp spikes. You've probably heard of the "white coat syndrome" -- bp rising upon a doc visit...

Hey Honeybunny -- thanks for checking in. Great to see you back with the Coursers!

As Rich suggested, robotic surgery is like your surgeon is playing a video game. In that case, I want my teen-aged grandson to be my surgeon. lol

Salutations and bravos to all of us staying our respective courses. Well, two weeks of hype now leading up to a Super Bowl clash of powerhouses -- Chiefs versus Niners. I enjoy watching young Mahomes perform his magic at QB but I am awed by that defensive front of SF. Don't have a favorite team...

Steve -- Thanks for passing along your experience with post-op hernias. Much appreciated. I read online that various sorts of these are pretty common after heart surgery, and sometimes don't require surgery. Then comes the question, though, of whether you want to wait for serious complications...

Thanks Bina. I'm sorry your hubby had to go through all that but glad that he came out of it well and with a scar that we know chicks love. ;) Before the hernia possibility popped up, I had read somewhere on the Net (which I'm forever surfing) something about little masses sometimes appearing...

Thanks Bina. That kind your husband suffered seems to be in lower abdomen or groin area (based on a very quick surf I just did). Mine is higher up and occurs fairly often after heart surgery. The cardiac rehab nurse has seen many of these before. (Says she won't bill me for her diagnosis.) :D

Thanks! I saw good bit online about that surgery. Sure not looking for any more surgery, but if this thing becomes a pain, it eases the stress to know there is a minimally invasive surgery with a high success rate and that can be done out-patient or maybe just one overnight in hospital. Had...

The LSU Tigers removed any doubt that they are No. 1 of all college football this season. The Clemson Tigers are a very good team and battled hard and deserved to be in the playoffs. However... Geaux Tigers!

Howdy folks! Football games galore. NFL playoffs have been exciting for the most part. Down to a final four: Kansas City/Tennessee Titans; San Fran/Green Bay. The Super Bowl I'd like to see is Packers versus Titans. I think it will more likely be Kansas City Chiefs versus the SF Niners. But...

    Allow me to reintroduce myself...

You are amazing, Nicole. What a fighter! Get knocked on the canvas and get right back up. Thought I had overcome a lot with two OHS in my senior years, but the challenges you have battled far surpass mine. All best to you -- keep battling and you will win. God bless.

I got tired of my repeated phone calls to the INR clinician down here in SC not being returned or any of my questions about going off Coumadin answered, so I reached out to the nurse practitioner at UNC/Chapel Hill where I had my surgery and got this reply promptly: You are done with Coudamin...

"Butterflies and rainbows" and "giddy love" -- I love it! What a beautiful wedding is coming up in February and a wonderful marriage thereafter! So glad you are part of our merry band of Coursers, LMBH! I am like Mathias in one way at least -- I intensely disliked that ventilator being in me...

    Staying the Course -- 01/06/2020

My biggest dread going into my aortic aneurysm surgery last September was that I would regain consciousness with the ventilator still intact and with the ICU staff in no hurry to take it out. I just realized tonight -- honest -- that I have no recollection of it coming out. Must have come out...

Actually, Tug's rallying cry in 1973 was "ya gotta believe." So I misquoted him (though I'm pretty certain in the mists of my memory I recall him invoking "heart." He generated quite a few quotes: https://www.baseball-almanac.com/quotes/quomcg.shtml Meanwhile, Plavix and Coumadin are not the...

Rich -- My wife was on Plavix for many years following a stroke. Don't think weight gain was a side-effect. However, when she had a life-threatening fall a year ago, with massive bleeding, the docs decided to take her off of Plavix because of her history of falls and vulnerability to bleeding...

So after all the holiday parties and an exciting Wild Card weekend of NFL football, it is back to a regular week (work or otherwise) starting with Monday. Stay the Course, guys and gals. I love it how our corner of vr.org seamlessly transitions from topics like steptrackers to the health of our...

Not to my knowledge. My son took Dash to the vet; I had to go to cardiac rehab. (We are an all-medical family)....; ) I will ask him. My daughter is like you, Duffey, she will go to any length to keep a dog going. Right now she is very interested in moving here to our neighborhood in a home...

Appreciate the support very much. Latest with Dasher is that the vet suspects cancer. She's taken a chunk from him for biopsy. May have results in 5 to 7 days.

Thanks very much Jill for those good ideas and well wishes. I too am hoping Duffey's Yoshi is getting better. As for Dasher, a family council meeting this evening persuaded my son just to have Dasher checked out by the vet tomorrow, and not put to sleep. Discussions of possible alternatives...
