Peleton sounds terrific. I have been thinking about getting an old-timer's recumbent bike (the better for my back). Best case, I could find one at a yard sale or online that's been used mostly as a coat rack.
There are some good online exercise programs, but I really miss my class at the core...
We've eaten in at a few of our favorite restaurants in the past few weeks (with distance between tables), but eating out on porches has been a nice experience (during nice weather, obviously). And take-out margaritas -- wow, that has been one silver lining.
Pretty bummed about no longer being...
Wouldn't it be nice if we could go back to New Year's Eve 2019, push a reset button and then start 2020 all over again? But we have no Back to the Future scenario, so we have to go forward and do the best we can. The first of June, I hoped, would be a fresh start.
And then I went over to check...
Went to bed last night and it was just a little depression with a 30 percent chance of developing. Wake up this morning and it is Tropical Storm Bertha right off our Carolina coastline with 45 mph sustained winds and torrential rain. Thunderstorms for sure, waterspouts possible. Flash flood...
Just a quick week opener. Will come back later.
Memorial Day was quiet around here, for the most part. Beaches were busy, and real downer has been bursts of gunfire a couple of times involving gang members who came from other areas to settle their scores across oceanside's main drag, thus...
Life is hectic. So let there be life. That's better than life being deadly dull, right?
Stay the Course, all ye steadfast Coursers!
So my daughter has closed the deal on a house within a half-mile of us in our very 'hood. But she can't move from TN for another two weeks. So I am looking after...
I got a late May hair appointment for my wife with her long-time stylist. As for me, I am a walk-in guy and figure only long lines til maybe September. I've decided to just go with shoulder-length hair -- maybe a pony tail, who knows?
Stirrings here. Hair salons and fitness clubs will be reopening next Monday -- of course, under special keep-your distance rules. Still seems weird: Shut down an economy thus throwing many millions out of work, now slowly reopen it.
Since I check practically every box in the "vulnerable"...
Greetings! Hope one and all are staying their courses safely while continuing to be at least reasonably happy during these pandemic times.
A bright spot for my wife and me is the decision of our daughter and granddaughter to move here from Tennessee into our neighborhood just a few blocks away...
Thank you, Dornole!
Re Covid cuts: the situation indeed is becoming hairy. Right now, I'm just going with the flow, letting it grow -- including a beard, which I've never followed through on in the past (always trimmed it off when it started to feel uncomfortable). Now, I have motivation. With...
Dr. Emmett Brown. A movie character great. Hmmm. I wonder if "Back to the Future" has some message to us stuck here in stalag Covid-19.
Some words of wisdom from Dr. Brown:
Dr. Emmett Brown : If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles per hour... you're gonna see some...
100 days -- I'd take it! BTW, my son was slaving away last night on a plan the regional sports commission asked him to help prepare for the reopening of sporting events (baseball, softball, soccer, cheerleading, etc) in our area. Sports tourism is huge hereabouts. Hope they find a way to swing...
Another fun way I determine what day of the week it is: Is this NCIS night? Absolutely must-see TV show for my wife and I, on Tuesday nights. Love the cast, even with a few changes over the years. Mark Harmon as "Gibbs" of course centers it all. So especially in the first days of any week, I ask...
Well, looks like another time that previous week's STC is one-upping this week's STC... lol No matter. Who knows what day, week, or month we're in any more. We're living in corona-v time, baby!
Carry on, Coursers, wherever you may be. ;)
Greetings Coursers! Hope you all are well and in good spirits.
Looks like we're beginning to "reopen" the economy state by state, locality by locality. Don't remember in my lifetime ever shutting it down to the degree it was this time. Hopefully we'll be sensible as we go back to work or to...
Steve,
Sorry, but your post doesn't qualify as a rant. It is too thoughtful and well-reasoned. You express the frustrations of many folks living under the pandemic lockdown.
One little footnote to the lighter-than-expected impacts on some hospitals: Our local ER put out an ad this week...
Oh man, I've been remiss, AWOL -- just catching up with this. Sorry you've been through such an ordeal. Wishing you all the best, and hoping for some more positive updates. Stay strong!
FYI, for Coursers and other heart buddies. I found a pulse oximeter today at CVS for $49.95, but I had a 40%-off coupon plus two $5 extra rewards, so it was about half price. (Prices seem to vary considerably.) This one works easily and well. My oxygen readings have been 95 to 97% -- so good...
