"... people with a history of severe allergic reactions to any components of the Moderna shot should avoid getting that vaccine." (From The Hill story above) So are they going to make public each and every component of the vaccine, and an assessment of the risks of each? And how would one know...

As a change of pace from all things pandemic, I thought I'd share this essay of mine, which links to heart health given that two of my beloved dogs have been my personal trainers post-OHS: (I entered this piece in a 2020 contest sponsored by the Petco Foundation for the benefit of animal rescue...

Happy New Week, all you hale and hearty Coursers out there! Hope all is well along your courses. AMYBL put up a question on the Nov. 9 thread that would make a timely subject for this week's edition. She had read, on Facebook I believe, about one cardiologist recommending that heart patients...

Thanks, Cindy. That's the course we've taken. I like the security that comprehensive Plan F brings us. And I discovered from considering other plans that many offer a discount, typically 5 percent, when more than one policyholder are in a family. Our current plan has put in for that for us, and...

I checked around about changing F to F or F to G for a somewhat lower premium and often found a requirement for medical underwriting and/or stipulations against coverage for treatment of pre-existing conditions -- or requiring a six-month waiting period for major procedures. Since I may well...

Hey, Superman -- Happy Birthday, and Hey (St.) Jude! Appreciate all you contribute to our little corner of this important place in cyberspace, and also all the helpful advice on other forums you and others give folks re Warfarin/Coumadin. I had a porcine valve, now a bovine one, but had a...

Staying the Course -- Thanksgiving Week 2020

I surmise from this LA Times article that states will have some leeway in how to set up their vaccine distribution. Who will get the first COVID vaccines? California and other states race to decide There seems to be general agreement, though, that first in line will be (1) front-line...

Understand the Seven Dwarfs have been instructed they can gather only in groups of six. Happy isn't one of them. (Borrowed that from a funny meme making the 'Net rounds.) Not to be political, but just as a practical matter, how do the jurisdictions decreeing a limit on family members gathered...

Happy New Week, Coursers! At the moment, I don't have anything particularly chipper or inspiring to start the week with, but thought I would put a starter here so hopefully another Courser will come along with something uplifting. I'm headed to the dentist shortly to have the first of four...

I would be inclined to take the vaccine. As I understand it, though, more information remains to be released on safety, and I certainly would want to review the research.

Tissue Valvers. How Old is Yours?

15 years for my first one, a piggie valve. Was still going strong on it but surgeon replaced it in Sept 2019 because he was in there fixing an aortic aneurysm and thought he might as well do a valve job too. So now have an Edwards bovine, which is working fine. Where once I oinked, now I moooooo.

Staying the Course -- Election Day 2020 Edition

Happy New Week, you hale and hearty Coursers! Hope rose petals and rainbows accompany you on your respective courses. So today is Election Day USA, and how crazy is it? Being something of a political junkie, I usually stay up most of the night to find out who the winner will be. But kinda looks...

Well, I had my ear surgery yesterday, and it took longer than I expected but my dermatologist said lab results show that she took out all the cancerous cells. Yes, Mike Tyson could have done the job much more swiftly, as he did on his opponent's ear in his infamous bout with Evander Holyfield...
