Do you take the full echocardiogram test with imaging, treadmill?

I think I have had 4 Nuclear Stress tests. I believe it works by getting a picture of heart at rest and then when you reach peak heart rate, they inject with a dye. Next pictures taken show any areas of heart not getting blood flow. Last one I had was in 2018. At end of test 2 nurses left and...

    High INR with Prednisone

Over the last 2 years I took the z-pack for Prednisone for a bad knee and shoulder maybe 6 times. INR is to be in 2.5 to 3.0 range and do not remember having any issues with getting out of range. I test weekly with home machine. I believe every body handles it differently.

    Exercise Test

I have had issues with echo stress test. Three years ago doc asked me to do one to make sure no issues before another surgery due to diverticulitis. Valve replaced 7 years prior. Went in for testing and woman doing echo part having issues seeing what she wanted. They ended up having another...

How did your heart surgery compare to other major operations?

I had a leaky aortic valve replaced 10 years ago and my left knee replaced last year. Recovery was much easier for the valve surgery. I was out of hospital in 4 days after heart surgery and had no issues at home. Even went with wife to grocery store and walked around on way home from hospital...

    Colonoscopy

Thanks Pellicle, They did testing before I was released and feel I have no lasting effects. I have noticed nothing different. I was lucky it happened in the hospital and nurse figured it out quickly and got a doctor in who called a stroke alert. A team including a neurologist showed up and took...

    Colonoscopy

My 2 cents worth. Bridge for the colonoscopy and get it done in one shot if needed. As to clotting, I had knee replaced last November. Stopped warfarin on Sunday. Started lovenox shots Tuesday, but held Wed evening shot on advice from doc. Surgery Thursday morning and tested at an INR of...

    'Failed' Ablation. What now?

Not sure if this helps. I had PVC's before heart valve replacement and they continued afterwards. I had a stress test stopped one time because they were coming 3 in a row. With valve clicking, it got hard to sleep. At a point doc wanted to reduce my blood pressure and first drug ( NORVASC)...

Dental Work and Artificial Tissue Aortic Valve

I just finished up with invisaligners. The only time it was decided I should take antibiotics was when they were running a file device between some of the teeth to gain small amount of extra space. They said there was a chance they may go below gum line and wanted the extra protection.

    Blood Clot Post Surgery

Thanks all, I am still trying to get information on what happened. My wife said the cardiologist told her the orthopedic surgeon had put me on Xarelto, which he changed. He said it was a blood clot they started on the valve. I am seeing they did 3 CT scans on day of issue. One more day later...

    Blood Clot Post Surgery

I was scheduled for a total knee replacement on Thursday Nov 5. I have had a mechanical valve for 9 years so I met with cardiologist for bridging. Note I bridged 3 times in 2017 with no problems. This was in the US. Schedule was to take last does of warfarin on Friday and start testing on...

    Extreme exercise

I bike about 3000 miles a year and my cardiologist who also rides told me to keep my heart rate below 150. I recently did a ride that was a long slow up hill and for an hour my heart rate was between 125 and 130. I am not a fast rider. I was able to show him the heart rate chart from my Garmin...

Getting ready for an cardiac angiogram.

I had one 2 years ago due to a stress test that showed issues. They initially went in thru the wrist, but said due to twisted arteries they had to also go in from the groin. Doc said my arteries were better than the last angiogram and stress test was wrong. One artery about 30%. I had been told...

    gut flora in hospitals

I had a few diverticulitis attacks and ended up having surgery to remove a foot of damaged intestine 2 years ago. They used the Davinci Robot. They had me in an accelerated program and I was out of hospital in two days eating solids. The night before surgery they had me take 3 rounds of some...

    Help please

Wondering out loud here. Many of the Drug Store Chains in the US, Walgreens and CVS have walk in medical clinics in them staffed with certified nurse practitioners who can write prescription on the spot. They are for things like flu and colds. They may be a cheaper option to get warfarin in a...

TAVR/TAVI: Recall of SAPIEN 3 Ultra Delivery System Due to Burst Balloons During Surgery

I read the article the other day. It is called a recall, but is not a recall. I believe it is information sent to the surgeons letting them know when using the system they need to inflate the balloon slowly. Because of the change in delivery, they had to call it a recall.

    Cardiac tamponade

I have read that during surgery some doctors sew the pericardium sack up after surgery, like mine did. Other doctors do not sew it back up so fluid cannot build up in the sack, however this can cause the heart, not protected now, to fuse to the back of the breast plate making further surgeries...

    Cardiac tamponade

I had my valve replaced about 8 years ago. On week 10 after surgery, I was not feeling well and went to the cardiologist on a Friday not feeling well. He checked me over and said everything appeared ok. That Sunday I got on my bike for first time and did 10 miles, being out of breath when I got...

    Spontaneous Knee Bleed

If I am the one you were asking. I have been on warfarin and baby aspiring since valve replaced 7 1/2 years ago. I was on baby aspirin for years before that. Cardiologist says the baby aspirin makes the blood a bit slippery. Family history of heart problems, so I have been seeing cardiologist...

    Spontaneous Knee Bleed

Thanks, They did an MRI the first week and did not note a bone spur, What I read on other sites, is that the blood that sat in there could cause damage to the ligament's. As mentioned to Protimenow I may follow up with a Rheumatologist.
