I've crossed the line into severe and need to make a decision

Man, I'm a whiny SOB. Just realized I should get a local shop to do my winter/summer tire swap, too.

I've crossed the line into severe and need to make a decision

YES! Cracked ribs suck. I added at least a year to my white>blue BJJ belt time b/c I was stupid about a rib injury. Point taken re: a few extra weeks. Rehab time for every serious injury I've ever had has been inversely dependent on how smart I was about babying it. "Slow" winds up being...

I've crossed the line into severe and need to make a decision

re: MMA buddies - that's very cool. Good luck to all. re: activity - Thanks - that's reassuring. The next area of concern is whether at 8 weeks post-surgery, I'll be smart about the winterizing tasks - brush clearing, putting the backpack leaf blower on my back, running everything through...

I've crossed the line into severe and need to make a decision

Appreciate that, and all of your other help/guidance. ...I'm 4 weeks from surgery and you can tell I already have withdrawals... ;).

I've crossed the line into severe and need to make a decision

@Chuck C , Have you had any heavy bag/mitt work sessions yet? Thinking about my post-surgery fitness regimen and was wondering how long the open chest would preclude non-contact bag/mitt work?

I've crossed the line into severe and need to make a decision

Ah - sorry. Based on my reading, and a some personal experiences, if you'd eaten a "bunch", your INR data would be the least of your problems, even w/o any existing allergies... :)

Yep - instant aggro draw if you've had a banana in the prior 24 hours.

Additional beekeeping trivia - biggest thing that made our beekeeping tasks easier? Paying a lot of attention to when we eat bananas. Isoamyl acetate filtered through humans = bee enemy.

    Remote INR taking over Coaguchek

Similar story for a co-worker in FL. Her delivery - all docs, anesthesiologists, etc - pre-approved as in-network by Humana. Baby shows up 7 days early and won't wait, so her scheduled doc/etc weren't available. Bill shows up for $234827948237948 because the delivery on staff weren't all...

    Pre-surgery tattoo question

Heading for a valve replacement surgery in early August and want to get a couple of tattoos in before blood thinners make it more difficult. I have a question about location. For various IVs/lines/etc, where did they put the punctures? I'm hoping that the web of the thumb and the mid-forearm...

I've crossed the line into severe and need to make a decision

Well, I can still coach MT, but just won't spar.

I've crossed the line into severe and need to make a decision

Brain bleeds are at elevated risk on post-OHS medical regimes even without the additional head trauma from getting bopped on a regular basis. That moved it from "I could keep sparring for another couple years" to "ok, it's time to stop".

I've crossed the line into severe and need to make a decision

Yup - doing my best to re-cast as much of this situation as great fortune. My GP caught the barest trace of a murmur. I didn't die. I should probably stop getting in fistfights with 25 year olds as my form of exercise. I can justify getting a guy to do the heavy yardwork for a few weeks. I have...

I've crossed the line into severe and need to make a decision

Sorry to go slightly OT on this, but it is sort of in the realm of general interest for post-OHS patients. There's a significant amount of research indicating that brain bleeds/CTE is more likely/more severe if the person is dehydrated. As I'm sure you know, this is VERY difficult to manage in...

I've crossed the line into severe and need to make a decision

Yup - I pretty quickly got to "Sooner rather than later" on the grounds that it's better to do it before the heart deteriorates even more. Also, the non-zero chance that the first big symptom = sudden death makes me wonder why anyone with a severe stenosis is told to wait and monitor. Also got...

I've crossed the line into severe and need to make a decision

Only about 3 pages through this thread, but wanted to express my appreciation for the issues discussed here. My situation is nearly identical to Chuck's - decent shape, 56, severe stenosis but mostly non-symptomatic, even down to concerns about having to give up Muay Thai. Came here to ask...
