    Medic Alert Bracelet

I have a Medical ID card in my wallet, and also in the visor of my card, and with my wife. The card contains more detailed information than the Medallion Medical ID I wear. The Medallion I have is fashionable. It looks like a gold coin, but with the Medical Staff symbol on the front. The...

Just Had Gallbladder Removal Was Given Fresh Frozen Plasma To Reverse

If they did you like they did me, you must have some pretty good pain meds to help you through the first few days at home. :-) I think the lab test would be good, and while you are at it, you should take your Coaguchek with you to the lab, and run your test right after the lab takes theirs...

Just Had Gallbladder Removal Was Given Fresh Frozen Plasma To Reverse

I do believe the InRatio II does not test accurately while on Lovenox. We had this discussion on here a while back. Maybe you can locate it doing a search. The only home testing unit that I am aware of that does give correct readings while bridging on Lovenox is the Coagucek unit. As far as...

Has anyone compared home testing with lab test for accuracy?

My results are within .2 of the vein draw at the lab. I compare results every 6 months, and always take my unit with me to the lab to test within minutes of the lab draw.

    Lopressor

Beta Blockers do two things, they lower your blood pressure, and, They also slow down your heart rate/pulse.

    Lopressor

This is what I will say about the Lopressor family of Beta Blockers. It is one of the oldest of the family of Beta Blocker drugs, and it is the go-to choice of many doctors as it has been used for so long effectively as far as they are concerned. That being said, the Lopressor family of drugs...

    Lopressor

Here is some information I saved from Web MD years ago in one of their forums. For simplicity sake (though nothing seems to be that way in medicine today), doctors, using their overall clinical experience, try to prescribe a beta blocker that is felt to be the most appropriate one that will...

Is heart care any good in Dubai?

The Cleveland Clinic, Rated No. 1 hospital in America, for heart related surgeries, has opened a new hospital in Dubai. I guess the rich middle east families got tired of traveling to Cleveland, OH, and decided to open their own branch there for the Cleveland Clinic. Here is the web site. You...

    Saw Palmetto interaction with Warfarin

Hi Pellicle, Yup, looks like I will be the lab rat. My doctor recommended I try this, instead of going to prescription meds, (since those have some other undesirable side effects), He also said it takes about 6 weeks of use for it to build up and be effective. I have some minor surgery coming...

    Saw Palmetto interaction with Warfarin

Hi Everyone, I have researched this on earlier postings here but could not find any clear answers to this question. From what I have read on this supplement, it is tagged as an herb that does indeed cause raised INR levels. So my question is this, Have any home testers started using this...

Hi Joanne, Sorry to hear about this issue with your dad. In my case, I had to have my St Jude aortic mechanical valve replaced after 10 yrs due to panus growth around the valve leaflets. The panus was causing the valve not to open fully, I was down to 2% efficiency. I had to have it replaced...

There are some tests that have a "detailed" report, and a "summary" report. Perhaps they provided you with the summary report.. If so, ask for the detailed report.

Anti-inflammatory gels/creams and their effect on INR?

Hi Tony, At the moment, due to having Plantar Fasciitis, I am Meloxicam, (Mobic) an anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID). I know that NSAID's can raise havoc with keeping INR level stable, so I have been testing every 3 days since I went on it over a week ago. My INR was 2.6 the day I started...

    Tattoo

Well, if you really want one, get it done before surgery, especially if you are having a mechanical valve. If you have to take Coumadin, then your colors will not hold true. Don't let your valve choice be ruled by a tattoo.

    Coumadin-Lovanox-Colonoscopy

Hi, I have had to use Lovanox twice since my first open heart surgery. Once for a colonoscopy, and another time for a different procedure prior to my second open heart surgery. I didn't have any issues. If you home test your INR, you cannot rely on your home monitor while on Lovanox. And as...
