    Constrictive Pericarditis

Hi everyone. I just wanted to give an update and see if anyone else has experienced anything similar. A little history: I had bacterial endocarditis in 1982 at the age of 2. Spent 58 days in the hospital and received a mechanical mitral valve. Had that valve replaced with an adult sized St. Jude...

    Paradoxical Septal Movement

Thank you for the response. I'm glad you have some answers and know what to expect. I'm curious to see what my heart cath shows next month. I feel like you now, where I may be at the point where I will never be back to normal, but learn to accept my new normal and keep my boundaries. I've always...

    Paradoxical Septal Movement

Paleowoman, just dug up this post. Did everything resolve itself in this case? I hope it did. I've been given a possible constrictive pericarditis diagnosis. Have to wait 3 weeks to go back to Mayo for more tests to confirm. Hope you are doing well.

One more update: Mayo thinks my valve is fine! They think i may have Constrictive Pericarditis. We have to go back up for a few more tests in order for them to know what I have. I go up next week or the week of Feb 5th. If that's what I have, they will do an Open Heart Surgery to remove the...

    IV Lasix

I should have given more details. I'm currently taking 80mg oral Lasix daily along with 50mg Spironolactone daily. I have a lot of fluid in my abdomen and I feel like the Lasix isn't working well anymore. Fluid in the abdomen can cause the Lasix to not be absorbed well. I was hoping to take some...

    IV Lasix

Hi, Does anyone know if there is criteria we have to meet to be given a dose of IV Lasix in America? I want to go in and request IV Lasix tomorrow so I can feel better, but I also think maybe I should hold off so Mayo can see what shape I am in on Thursday.

Called the Mayo Clinic today. Then called the other hospital to get phone numbers and have records sent. Mayo has been amazing at communicating with me. They just called back to explain that they were waiting on a few more records to be sent. Then, they will look over everything and call me back...

Still nothing. Planning to call Mayo tomorrow and try to get something done quicker. Hoping to tell them how much I am declining and get an appointment made. It's crazy that I've been left at home with very little follow up, in congestive heart failure. But, I know I'm not the only one that has...

CoaguChek xs vrs the lab... someone is wrong!

Lance, did you have any lasting effects from your TIAs? Just curious. I am much more foggy brained the last few months, but I am hoping it is because of the heart failure and diuretics I am on, and not because of my TIAs. Hoping all those symptoms go away after surgery. Thanks

    5 years ago right now.......

Jamey T, congrats on 6 years now. It's great to have that recognition that we wouldn't be here without surgery. Then we can feel grateful for all the blessings we have received. I'm currently waiting on a call from Mayo. Did you self refer or have a doctor referral? I don't know which is faster...

Thank you jwinter. The Mayo Clinic referral is being processed. When my family doctor gets back in the office Tuesday, he has to call Mayo to answer some questions they have. Then I just wait to hear from their cardiovascular department. A weight has been lifted off my shoulders. This was the...

If I don't hear from my local doctor by tomorrow morning about the Mayo referral he was doing, I will call them myself and make an appointment. Hopefully I will at least have an appointment date by the end of the day tomorrow. Way to many reasons why I need to go there. I feel like I've been...

Also, yesterday's appointment resulted in plans to do a 1 hour EEG on Dec 28. Then if it shows nothing, they want a 5 day EEG to try to catch a seizure (which I don't have ;) ) I don't mind the one hour EEG, even though it's unnecessary. I know what the 5 day EEG involves, because I did that...

Amen pellicle! Mayo is now my goal. Yesterday's appointment was just another indication that we need to go to The Mayo Clinic. My mother-in-law went with me yesterday. I am so glad she did, because she got to see how crazy things are. She couldn't believe that that lady diagnosed me with...

Update: Oh my goodness you guys. This just gets crazier. Really makes me think the Mayo Clinic is the way to go. A nurse from my family doctor's office called today to let me know that the referral was held up because there was one more step the doctor had to take. She was putting it on his desk...

Thank you guys. I'm feeling better this the extra Lasix. The last two days I haven't felt like napping, so that's a big plus. Monday is my appointment with the epilepsy doctor. Then we should be given a date next week. I'll feel better about this whole thing once I have a date. With e extra...
