    New Coag-Sense meter

I did see that new meter, and I am considering it. I have to say, that when I find something that works well for me, I am a little resistant to change. My current CoagSense is very accurate for me so I am not in a hurry to buy the new one.

Coaguchek Strip Recall - alternative meters

I test myself weekly, and go to the lab every 6 weeks, but my GP wants me to go every 4 weeks. I had good results with the Inratio 2, but not the Coagucheck. With the Coag Sense, I am always within .1 of the lab. I always have a blood draw done at the lab. To your point, my Coagucheck was...

Ten Years Ago Today Emergency OHS

Thanks for updating this post. You sound better, but I know it is easy to slip back into it. Try not to let that happen. I sincerely hope your life keeps improving. Merry Christmas.

Coaguchek Strip Recall - alternative meters

For me it was typically +.6 to +.8, but it was consistent, so it worked for me for a couple of years.

    Curcurmin and INR

I did forget to mention that I started curcurmin supplement a couple months ago, and haven't noticed any difference yet, testing is still ongoing. Again, as I said, test yourself to be sure. Also, I don't know how long you have been on warfarin, but I have been on it 7 years now, and would be...

Coaguchek Strip Recall - alternative meters

Pellicle, I believe I have posted in the past of my thinking that for some reason my blood chemistry didn't like the Coagucheck. The difference between finger sticks and lab draws was fairly predictable, and that was also over several different lots. You wrote a very good reminder, especially...

    7 years

I am doing wonderful. My doctor (GP) asked me last month if I still hear it, and I told him "every click". The best Christmas present I got that year was my wife driving me home 600 miles on Christmas day. Merry Christmas everyone.

    Curcurmin and INR

I also have saved every INR test I have had done for 7 years now, I also self test, and I agree, I have found no food that has a noticeable affect on my INR. I extend that to include alcohol, and I have done a couple of test to verify that ;) . I have also started working out again, and I have...

Coaguchek Strip Recall - alternative meters

Well of course I am going to mostly agree with you. My Inratio 2 was much more accurate than my Coagucheck, when I could find the strips. On your recommendation, I bought a Coag-Sense, and am amazed at the accuracy compared to my lab. My finger stick test here at home is within .1 of my lab...

    Wafarin and shaving?

The Mayo Clinic told me it was fine to use a razor, but I had already switched to an electric. I too miss the close shaves.....

    Should I self test

Paul, I have been very busy leading a normal life the last month or so, and sometimes that alone makes me smile. I am also a self tester/self doser. You don't have to tell your clinic you are self testing, it can be for your own peace of mind. My new GP is a young guy, and I told him that I...

Anybody using Coag Sense for INR testing?

I have just gotten one myself. One thing I have noticed, you have to have a large enough drop before you start drawing blood into the tube, then don't wiggle it either. Also, on the tubes I have, I have to watch that I don't cover the tiny vent hole.

I just got my new Coag-Sense meter...

No I am not doing anything different. I have been self testing/dosing for nearly seven years, so I know what I am doing. (I have typed this out three different times trying not to sound cranky, but it just isn't working for me. Sorry, I'm really not. ) Anyway, one problem I have with the chart...

I just got my new Coag-Sense meter...

OK, not to change the subject or anything but...... I got the first comparison test with a lab test, and the results were in line with what I kind of expected. The lab test was 2.8, the Coag-Sense was 3.1, and the Coaguchek was 3.8. The lab vs. Coaguchek difference was in line with previous...

I just got my new Coag-Sense meter...

Pellicle, Yes, I am aware of that. It is good that you said something for people just considering it though, I should have mentioned it in my post. Thank you. My tests are usually within 15-20 minutes of each other. Yeah, I live that close to the clinic but it isn't a coumadin clinic, and they...

    Questioning the Clinic

I personally wouldn't change my dose at 3.8, but would go to the lab for another test in a week to see if it was still high. Someone here said they would rather be 4.0 than 2.0, and I kind of took that to heart. Pellicles graphs always help make that point also. So you know, my surgeon wanted...

I just got my new Coag-Sense meter...

I guess I should have logged in first. Darn it. For the record, this is my third meter, all of them different, so I do understand self testing, and I also have every INR test result I have ever had so I can track things.

    5 years ago right now.......

I was referred by North Central Heart hospital. When I went there for consultation, they did quite a bit of testing, then decided I was a greater risk than they wanted to deal with. I have the utmost respect for them saying that, but it was kind of a shock when I realized that "this was bad"...

Ten Years Ago Today Emergency OHS

I have to say that luckily I was warned about the depression after surgery by a friend that is in the medical field. She warned me to watch out for it, so when I found myself slipping down the road you are on I was able to recognize it and change. Not everyone is able to do that, and with me it...

    5 years ago right now.......

Another year, and my Dad is one day out of a troublesome hip replacement. He got a chuckle out of the fact that it was 6 years ago today that I had my surgery. I still check in often to see if there is anything I can help with, even if I don't post anything. This is a great thing for people...
