Yes, thank you. My nutritionist wants me to watch fat intake. That seemed to work a couple of months ago, esp. when I tracked calories using My Fitness Pal. I'll do good monitoring blood sugar, calories, etc., for several weeks then get lazy about it.

I'm reluctent to post because my weight keeps inching up instead of down. Trying not to be discouraged. Going up the the mid 90s this week. No rain predicted but we can use some. Busy, busy at work so not much else to report. Doing my best to stay the course.

Yes, dawn phenomenon is what I read about. I take a reading around 5 a.m before eating, sometimes after some sips of coffee. Superman, wishing you a speedy recovery.

SB, ditto to what Superman and Paleowoman said. Sorry your dealing with joint problems. I will feel my left knee buckle just a tad from time to time when doing stairs (not fully, just an "oh oh" type of feeling that prompts me to take a better grip on the handrail). No serious pain or movement...

    10 months since surgery

I was originally on 25 mg of Metoporol twice a day but felt out of it, for lack of a better term. I contacted the cardio and he said I can take 25 mgs once a day, which I've been doing since my second week of recovery. Now, my heart rate is a bit high (usually over 100 resting) so my PCP and I...

I don't eat out very often but I do eat quick-to-prepare junky food. Like the nachos I scoffed down this weekend (tortilla chips with a dollop of refried beans, shredded cheddar, and pinch of sour cream, nuked for 1 minute). I did make some pork chops earlier in the week, so that was good...

SB, does your DW look over your shoulder when you post? LOL! Seriously, getting to exercise alongside professional athletes sounds like fun! You can have the cheerleaders....I'll take those nice, physically fit, ball players <evil grin>. Superman, good going on that weight loss. Sadly, I am...

    Newbie introduction

Geoff, we had another newbie here not long ago who had the same problem. One of our members contacted Hank, who told her that the newbie had not completed the registration process, which Hank did for him. Now, I don't know what completing registration entails, but perhaps you can look at your...

    Staying the Course -- 04/16/2018

And here it is Wednesday! Busy day yesterday at work so didn't check in. SB, when my mom was in her 80s she'd say "I'm getting old". I'd reply, "You ARE old!" So now, in my 60s, I refer to myself as old. And my children don't correct me! LOL! Even if I had the opportunity to join a fitness...

    Hello, newbie here

I purchased an electric recliner, or rather my brother purchased it for me. I'd planned on renting one but had no luck finding a rental. I still had a hard time sleeping, even when fully reclined, but that was to be expected. I opted for the electrical because I don't have reach (short arms) to...

Superman and Superbob (two super guys!), have you ever dined as a Brazilian steak house? We have several around here. The gauchos stroll through the restaurant slicing off hunks of meat on request. Cost is about $60/person, all you can eat. I've been only a few times because I don't eat enough...

OMG Paleowoman ! How horrible! I'm surprised this has not been reported in the news. I seldom use my Amazon account anymore but everything is still active. Thanks for sharing. And is there a special reason for your cardio wanting an echo? I know you were keeping an eye on things. How often are...

OMG!!! No responses yet??? I know I'm tardy also, SB. but it's Wednesday already. Does no one want to play with us? LOLOL!! I started yesterday recording my glucose levels again. And keeping track of my food consumption with My Fit Foods (yes, they alerted me about the security breach of their...

In shock - 12 great years later, just discovered I need another OHS

Kristine, thanks for sharing your story. My tissue valve was "installed" in Sept. 2015. Like you, I've been presuming that changes would be gradual and that I would have advance warning of a second surgery. I am in a 5-year research study and so undergo an extensive echo each year paid for by...

Gonna get an AVR done, need some mental support.

Welcome! Glad you found the site. You'll find lots of support here. When I joined the site I looked at the Pre-surgery and Post Surgery forums to read about other people's experiences, such as what things they brought to the hospital and what surprised them about their surgery. Please keep us...
