FDA approves a new Biopolymer Heart Valve trial by Foldax

pellicle Briefly (I'm at work) I was asked by the research assistant, acting on behalf of my surgeon, though he is not the head of the study. I don't recall receiving a copy of what I signed. Guess I had other things on my mind. When I was asked to participate in September 2015, the study had...

FDA approves a new Biopolymer Heart Valve trial by Foldax

tom in MO, I was asked to participate in a research study on a new type of bovine AV (Edwards rapid deployment Infinity valve) a few days before my surgery. No incentives except for the fact that I would have testing each year at the study's expense. The study had been in place for two years...

    Staying the Course -- 02-04-2019

Hey guys! Nothing much happening in H-Town except for 40-degree temperatures. New grandson is doing great though his parents live 300 miles away so I’ve not seen him since his birth. Hard for me to get motivated at the end of the work week. Enliy the the rest of the weekend.

    Staying the Course, 2019!

Thanks, Steve, for posting. Sorry for all the troubles, Superbob and Paleowoman and FredW . My holiday was very, very quiet. Basically spent it alone for personal reasons, though I took a number of days off from work and attended the delivery of my 6th grandchild (a firstborn boy for my...

Tisse Valves nearing 10 years old and Have o be replaced

I'm likely to be in your shoes sooner than later (bovine valve replacement 3 years ago; now 64). Occasionally I think about my options and am unsure as to which way to go. Thanks to members of this forum, I'm much less concerned about being anti-coagulant therapy than I was before surgery. I...

    Sternal Wire Removal?

If I remember correctly, I believe it was the full cost. Local anethesia, then literally 2 minutes to clip the know and maybe another 2 to put in a couple of stitches.

    Staying the Course -- 12-10-2018

Hey, SB. For some reason I have been quiet on the entire site the past couple months. I can almost trace it back to Hank's post about shutting down the site. Also, I don't see many posts anymore. Maybe others are drifting away as well. Too bad because this site has been a great support for me...

No pellicle , it was because I had not met my deductible out-of-pocket.

    Sternal Wire Removal?

I had a knotted wire removed as an outpatient, local anesthesia, that took maybe two minutes. It had not broken through the skin but was protruding and unsightly. 1-1/2 years later, I have another one but have not gone back because the first one cost $750. The protrusion is annoying but not $750...

    Staying the Course -- 11-26-2018

Hi all, My son cooked on turkey day, which was fine by me. With a few exceptions I’’ve done the thanksgiving meal since the age of 17 and I’’m now 64. Glad to skip one. And he did a good job on the bird; much more moist than ones I’’ve cooked. Work is a little unstable. I work for Jacobs...

jointer, my sister in law had altitude sickness so back while visiting Denver that she ended up in the ER with what she thought was a heart issue. Very bad time for her. Sorry you’re dealing with this. Martin, you are right about this being a bad time of the year for weight-watching. I’m up a...

Desperately need advice on Tissue or Mechanical

That was also my thinking three years ago (age 61) when I went with tissue. I wouldn't be able to just swap it out like an ill-fitting pair of shows. And because I don't like to hear the internal thumping of my own heartbeat, learing about the clicking settled it for me. Of course, deep down I...

    Staying the Course -- 10-30-2018

Good day to you, SB! Nothing to report health-wise except that the echo I had done on the 12th for the research study needs to be redone because the tech missed some things. I go back next month. I rarely have had a trick or treater in the 13 years I've lived in my house. Not too many kiddos in...
