I can't get life insurance anymore after my surgery. Suggestions.

It cost me almost $30k for my husbands two funeral services 19 years ago this coming January 11. One in Houston where we lived and a second in Detroit where he was from. It was a sudden death so my decisions were emotional, not logical. I checked into cremation her a few years ago and even that...

Most likely going with a mechanical .

Buckeye, I am in a clinical trial for a new type of tissue valve. It had been going for two years when I had my surgery four years ago and will run at least two more years until the last person entered into the study has been in it for five years. That’s 8 years just for the study trials to give...

I can't get life insurance anymore after my surgery. Suggestions.

The only life insurance I have is through my employer. If I die of natural causes my 3 children will get about $200,000. If it is an accidental death it would be over $400,000. If I retire (not likely) or lose my job I have zilch except my home (with a mortgage) and a modest 401K. I had a $100k...

    News video on TAVR

Duffey, my cardio told me at my January 2018 check up that I would have TAVR. I thought he was overly optimistic but perhaps not. Only time will tell. Good to "see" you :)

    Surgery date

You sound upbeat so that is great. You got some good advice but here's a tip I'm not sure I've seen on the forum. I was absolutely parched when I awoke and begged the nurse for multiple glasses of water, which didn't sit well with the anesthesia, causing me to vomit the water back up. Doc told...

    Long time, no posting

He put some really bad karma out there and will likely live to regret it. The older I get, the more often I see people reaping what they have sown. So sorry you went through all that.

    Staying the Course -- 03/04/19

MartinF , I feel the same. I peak in here but don't have the heart to post because I have nothing new to say. My enthusiasm for the site ha dwindled steadily since Hank posted about shutting it down. I don't even stop in on the Throwdown thread, and I always did before (nothing personal SB). I...

FDA approves a new Biopolymer Heart Valve trial by Foldax

Here is some info on the valve I received. The way I understood it, the rapid deployment technique is a bridge between traditional OHS and TAVR. It also meant less time on the heart/lung machine. My cardio told me I would have TAVR if replacement is needed in the future...
