    5 weeks...so far so good...questions

I would like to comment on your first point. My aorta size is 3.8 and surgeon advised against lifting heavy. It increased between 2007 and 2013 when i had boderline high BP and used to lift heavy. I think that lifting heavy had contributed to this increase. Giving up weight lifting was one of...

Nipun Shah I have BAV. Aorta increased between 2007(had an echo in 07) and 2013 when i had high BP, used to do workout (squats, deadlift etc). In 2013 BAV was caught and i changed my lifestyle after that. It has been stable since then. Doctor says that it could grow within 5 years or it may...

29yrs - valve choice and aortic aneurysm ( difficult decision due to way of life )

Mechanical vs tissue is not so simple as some people are pointing out. If someone guarantee me 15-20 from tissue, I would go tissue without a doubt. But I am going mechanical because there are no guarantees in tissue, it can fail in 5 years too and my age is 32. Some people are against...

    How to prevent endocarditis?

pellicle we can use 'waterpik' for flossing. I think it won't cause blood in gums(not sure through). I have ordered one. I find traditional flossing cumbersome.

    How to prevent endocarditis?

AZ Don Even i ignored my gums in my younger days. It sucks when you have a valve disease(i came to know about it only 3 years back). I still have couple of months, so i will get them thoroughly cleaned and if need arises, get problematic ones extracted.

    How to prevent endocarditis?

Hi, I will be going through AVR within 6 months, have decided to go with mechanical valve(32 years old). I want to go with ON-X valve, but not sure if they do that in India. Contacted ON-X through message, but they are not replying. Any help here would be appreciated. But more than surgery, it...

    Surgery on Monday

Best of luck. I am sure your heart will reduce to normal size after operation. Mine went from 7.1 cm to 5.4 cm without surgery that too on moderate leakage. With fully functional valve i don't see a reason why it won't come down. Be sure to do aerobic exercise regularly when you are back to...

Surgery next week, but still confused.

At this point of time i am more worried about leakage. I took two more opinions(and another echo) and both of them were of the opinion that surgery is not needed now. So i have cancelled it. Although i must admit that i was mentally prepared for the surgery and that is the tough part. Now i will...

Surgery next week, but still confused.

I had second opinion with another surgeon. He said that he doesn't prefer arotic valve repair and replacement is not needed now. So i am cancelling surgery now.

Surgery next week, but still confused.

Hello, A little background. I am 30 year old suffering from BAV with moderate AR. Had symptoms from last 7 years. Echo was done in 2007, it came out clean and they said it was all in my head. I had mild LV dilation( they said no to worry about this) with no leakage. It must have been done...
