Hello! Just had Mitral Valve Repair

Good luck with your appointment. Mine is in two weeks. I'd be interested in hearing what the dr. says.

    Heart Cath

I had my first cath in 1978 and they went through my groin. Last year when I had a cath that is what I expected but they went through my wrist and my neck, doing both a left and right cath. I wasn't in recovery that long. I couldn't lift anything more than a coffee cup with that one hand for 48...

Hello! Just had Mitral Valve Repair

Welcome to the forum. I've had floaters for many years but it had gotten to the point where I rarely saw them. After my cardiac cath I started seeing them quite often and even more so after my OHS. I had blurry vision after my cath as well which resulted in a neuro consult. I ended up being...

Post Surgery long-term followup with cardiologist

I had the same surgery 14 months ago. I see the cardiologist every six months. They do an EKG at both appointments. I have an echo done once a year. I did have a holter monitor this year because I had a few episodes of heart palpitations.

    Hello & BAV Replacement Scheduled

I have the Coagsense and if I had been on this forum sooner or if I was able to choose a different machine I probably would have. The Coagsense requires you to prick your finger, get a good sample, collect it in a thin flimsy tube and get the sample in the machine in 15 seconds. It took me...

    Warfarin is very tweaky

You are not being too hopeful. I eat greens every day. I'll have a salad with romaine or arugula. I put spinach in my protein shake and I'll eat broccoli, asparagus or brussell sprouts once a week or at least every other week. I just try my best to be consistent in the vitamin K I eat each day...

    Howdy - AVR coming up!

Welcome to the forum. I had a Bentall procedure last year as well as a repair to my innominate artery. I was also nervous leading up to the surgery but was strangely calm on the morning of the surgery. Check out the thread on what we did not expect in regards to our surgeries. I know for...

A question was posed about INR measurements

I have never gone to a clinic. I input my INR results into an app for the company that provides my machine. The company calls my cardiologists office who then calls me to discuss the results and whether I should make any adjustments to my dose.

A question was posed about INR measurements

I test at home on my Coagsense. Occasionally I go to the lab for a comparison or if I am doing a blood draw for another reason I will add the INR to the blood draw.

I don’t know what to do anymore

I had my first OHS at 14 to repair the aortic stenosis from my bicuspid valve. Like Superman I went to a small school and also had a time when I was made to sit out of gym class. There was also the day when they announced over the school wide speaker that there was a local blood drive if anyone...

    First trip to the ER

Thank you for the suggestions. The ENT doctor did suggest the Afrin and to use it if I got another nose bleed so I did pick that up. I will look for the other products mentioned.

    First trip to the ER

The ENT doctor cauterized the blood vessel that appeared to be the culprit. YEA!! Fingers crossed that there is not a reoccurrence.

    First trip to the ER

Thanks. I will definitely ask about a nose spray to use. We do have a humidifier built into our heating system and I keep the heat low at night. I have been forcing myself to take walks outside just to get some fresh air. Really looking for some warmer weather!! Be well.

    First trip to the ER

I have been to the ER many times but never as the patient. Out of the blue Saturday morning my nose started to bleed. I do have a history of nose bleeds from time to time going back to when I was a teenager but never anything like this. I have had a few small nose bleeds since surgery last year...

    aortic valve replacement

Welcome to the forum. I had my first surgery at 14 to repair my BAV. I just had my second OHS last year at 57 to replace the valve with a mechanical one and repair an aortic aneurysm. I am hoping that by choosing a mechanical valve I am done with OHS. I second what Superman said in regards to...
