    Diabetics in the hospital

We had dinner last night with good friends of ours that are both nurses, one of which is a director of one of the clinicial specialities. (I was the token non-nurse at the table) Both of them have specialists on the hunt for me when I'm admitted. Now...here's the question. I'm a type II...

    Laughing gas OK?

When I mentioned the valve stenosis prior to my deep cleaning, they IMMEDIATELY called my cardiologist. They didn't even prep me until they heard from her that it was ok to proceed. Personally, I would insist that they make the call. (or you could call as well)

    Positive thing s do happen

Nancy - since my date keeps getting changed, I can totally relate to the waiting game. At this point, I can't get excited about it since everything is penciled in.......again. But if everything goes as planned, we'll have dueling AVRs on the 9th. Stay in touch.

New Member And Overwhelmed - Need Advice

Robin - welcome to the board. You'll find many caring people here who are/have been in the same boat you are. You are entitled to a 2nd opinion. If you want one - get it! But remember, you don't have to 'like' the Dr doing the surgery, you just have to trust him/her. Many times, other doctors...

Thanks everyone for the support. The stress level here is MAJORLY high. On top of the surgery and now the GI issue, there's big stress at my job and at my partner's job. I ended up leaving work early today because I felt awful. ANYWAY - there was a posting somewhere about what music the...

Cath this Friday & nerves are ramping up.

When I walked into the set from Star Trek (the cath lab), everyone was really nice. They all introduced themselves. (I'm Sue, I'm the nurse, I'm Bill, the assistant and so on) I looked at them and said 'I'm Dave. I'm your patient'. silence. BIG laughs. You'll do great.

Vent away Marc. You got ears here. I'm freaking out over a colonoscopy/endoscopy combo on Friday (AVR scheduled for Tues) I'm more scared over Fri than Tues.

What are bumps in the road?

yotfix - let's chat about that nurse issue for a minute. Nurses, on the whole are your best friends. They do more work than the doctor and, in many cases, keep the doctors 'honest' by questioning orders. However, there are a few bad apples out there. My partner is an ER nurse and I can tell you...

    Honest Opinions?

Along with making sure you have a continuation of coverage, I'd put learning about insurance and policies that affect you as a top priority. You WILL need to have an understanding of this, and the sooner you start to gain knowledge, the better. You might want to consider talking to your...
