    Mandatory in-patient rehabilitation?!

Hope things are okay, especially given the situation in Italy at the moment and you're recovering well.

    Corona Virus Feb 2020

People are going mad. Times like this show how fragile society is, only one virus away from destabilisation perhaps. Loving the Aussie videos! Couldn't buy pasta at my local giant supermarket last night- all gone! Man in front of me in the queue had about 60 toilet rolls. People were also...

    Warfarin

First question- are you taking your warfarin at the same time each day, without forgetting and taking it late? And if so, do you have regular mealtimes?

    Mandatory in-patient rehabilitation?!

Well done on everything so far! Did you manage to escape rehab? I hope you're doing well and your pleural effusion has resolved. Definitely best not to leave if it's a big or recurring one

    Well, that was quick!

Will most certainly have a snoop, I instinctively feel I'm now in the severe range and won't have much long left where I'll be able to remain operation-free. I just can't keep up like I used to climbing and hiking and my heart rate increases significantly more going up a small flight of stairs...

    Well, that was quick!

So reassuring to hear your story and how you managed to have a family after your first valve replacement, I hope to follow a similar path. All the very best for round two. Hope your recovery is smooth and you get back to doing what you enjoy quickly!

    My number was finally called!

All the best Herb, it'll all add up to a life well-experienced. And looking forward to some top-notch storytelling! What type of surgeon are you may I ask vitdoc? I very much relate to this. I've become a very (hopefully not overly) active patient since I began practice. On the one hand you...

    Worsening bicuspid

Thanks pellicle. Ah oh nice, I hope the hospital food was better with Bupa! Brompton patient currently myself. Having a late-night listen now :)

    Cialis and heart failure interactions?

Cialis can interact with some cardiac medications, nitroglycerin/ GTN being the main one, which can be dangerous. Best to ask your doctor for sure, but it is not recommended alongside some medications.

    Worsening bicuspid

Probably criminal to admit, but I hadn't even heard of Prokofiev :)

    Worsening bicuspid

One of two great scientists either way, Carl Sagan was a hero, might have to give Cosmos a re-watch. Quick Google tells me they have a cryopreserved store. If you could link them that'd be much appreciated, my next appointment is soon, so would be good to appraise a selection. Thanks for the...

    Smoking

Assuming you had a valve replacement for a bicuspid valve, people with bicuspid valves are more prone to developing aneurysms of the aorta. Tobacco usage is a big risk factor for aneurysm formation generally- something to consider if anyone were to smoke cannabis with tobacco, best avoided long...

    Worsening bicuspid

Yes, I would prefer to be a man in this situation to be honest and would otherwise opt straight for a mechanical to be done with it and not have the certainty of the valve failing after some years. But it is what it is, I feel very fortunate otherwise. My understanding was that both warfarin and...

    Worsening bicuspid

Hi Anne! Can I ask what London hospital you're under? I'm also seen in London. So grateful to have grown up with the NHS. In terms of the homograft, from the research I've read I'd second you on the history front. Where did you find the information about the surgeon dependency? I'm sure every...

    Worsening bicuspid

Thanks for sharing your story, interesting read and research analysis, I'm 100% going for a tissue replacement/homograft first time round too. Hopeful I can get as long out of it as you did yours. Also a keen traveller and rock climber. Private health insurance is a worry though, so used to...

    Worsening bicuspid

I discovered this site I'd estimate around 10 years ago and the wealth of information and support I've seen here over the years is phenomenal. I recently experienced an accident at work which caused some trouble with my heart and came back here to see if someone had had a similar experience. I...
