To metoprolol or not to metoprolol

Ouch. Just wondering if the dosage or the filling in the pill makes a difference! What dosage were you on and what pill color and which manufacturer if you remember! I find Teva is a good manufacturer.

To metoprolol or not to metoprolol

Wow! Sorry to read this though I laughed reading it! Mine are vivid dreams, mostly pleasant! I hope they will never change. I had and would have nightmares when I eat too much at dinner or just before I sleep.

To metoprolol or not to metoprolol

slipkid, I always make sure to eat something when I take my night pill even if I’m not hungry. This lessens that side effect.

To metoprolol or not to metoprolol

You’re welcome and wish you best of wisdom to guide you to the right choice. In brief: four years without it, I had AFib twice since then plus other heart deteriorations. But this could be me and doesn’t necessarily mean it may happen to others. In more details: My cardiologist after my...

To metoprolol or not to metoprolol

If your cardiologist prefers you stay on it, then I encourage you to stay on it especially that you’re tolerating it well and the good caring cardiologist know our hearts better! In my case, after surgery my cardiologist kept advising me to stay on it every time I asked him if I could stop it...

    Afib

How occasional are your AFibs or how far apart are the episodes. Ask him for how long he’ll put you on Amiodarone? I take metoprolol 25 mg twice a day to avoid a third A-Fib’s episode, which I don’t mind staying as it’s saving my heart!

Anti-coagulant therapy has come a long way.....

Absolutely, in addition to not having much faith that patients can be smart and capable!

    elevated cholesterol

Stress is THE MAIN CAUSE FOR MANY CHANGES in a person’s physical and mental health! Quote: When a person has long-term (chronic) stress, continued activation of the stress response causes wear and tear on the body. Physical, emotional and behavioral symptoms develop. Physical symptoms of...

Anti-coagulant therapy has come a long way.....

My new Family doctor (saw once and won’t see again) didn’t even like it! He recommended going to Coumadin clinic, though I told him I have been doing this for 15 years!

I'm a little worried! Valve leakage!!

Don’t worry about it since you have no symptoms! Was it the same technician who did your echo in the last year/years or a new one? You may ask your cardio to repeat the test in 6 months instead of a year for peace of min, as it could be a technician’s miscalculations! Since my surgery in...

    Member from long ago- Praline

Hello Praline. It always makes me feel good to see an “old-timer” here again! I’ve been ok except for two electro-cardio versions. And I come here when time allows me…I’m the only care-giver to my 90-year young sister with dementia!

Do you forget to take your med pills?

If you forget, above suggestions should make it easier to remember. What I do: I have an alarm on my watch and I keep snoozing it until I take my medication. My Thyroid medication which needs to be taken on an empty stomach is on my night table. I take it as soon as I wake up. But if you...

INR difference between lab and my Coagucheck

I’m not planning to talk to the doctor who ordered the blood work, as I don’t plan to stay with him. He just replaced my wonderful caring doctor who just retired. I feel he is one of those who know everything (since he is the doctor) and the patient has to agree with him! I’m revisiting my new...

INR difference between lab and my Coagucheck

No. The lab didn’t use XS…it used then the same reagent! I’m keeping my meter!

INR difference between lab and my Coagucheck

I totally agree that our meters are more reliable! After I returned home from the doctor’s office, I tried to remove the bandaid off and there was still some blood (like a wet drop 🩸) there. I put a new band aid and a newer one after a few minutes! This to me confirms that my INR was 3.8 (my...

INR difference between lab and my Coagucheck

@pellicle , I remembered this morning when this happened before, Roche contacted UCLA lab on my behalf to check which method they use! It was the same and I was advised the buy a new one which I used at the doctor’s office. But, I’ll still call UCLA lab.
