    Day 4 post-op and feeling 😎

I hope you have a comfy lounger at home (rather than a bed). I had mucho pain trying to sleep/lie down in my bed. Lounge chair is where it's at according to posts I've read. I didn't have one but almost bought one. In fact, I was about to rent a hospital bed to be delivered to my house...

    Alternative to Plavix

My current GP is actually the worst "DR" ever. Not a DR btw, a Nurse Practitioner. Lazy as hell. Doesn't follow through on anything like he should (long stories). I'm pretty fedup with Drs/medicine in general. I need to find a new GP and Cardio but am so disgusted with things that have gone...

Feeling a whirlwind of emotions—sadness, confusion, bewilderment, …, etc. after my recent “Bubble echo” test, which uncovered a hole in my heart.

Not directed at me but I (no one) can hear my On-X valve (without a stethoscope). Yet I can hear clicking wall clocks with non-sweep second hands from over 20 feet away. I had to move a clock out of my bedroom because of this, it was driving me batty. Some people can hear their mechanical...

New member; Alarmed at decreasing EF %

I could not "catch my breath". Felt like I was gasping for air. Had to wait/rest to return to "normal".

    Alternative to Plavix

Well the next one was even worse! Long story. I've given up and no longer even have a cardiologist.

    The next stage of Cardiology?

Oh man, just saw this thread. After I had 2 stents put in I was put on metoprolol 25mg (I think that was the dosage). I've discussed my problems on that drug in other threads. Anyways, as soon I was given that pill (along with plavix), while still in the hospital b4 discharge I went from...

    Alternative to Plavix

That's what I thought. I tried to ask the cardiologist at the time but he refused to answer any of my questions (starting with my simply asking "how long do I need to be on Plavix?"). He told me "I'm not going to answer any of your questions, go ask Dr. google". At that point my primary...

It might not be Mount Everest . . . .

Nice! Not Mt Everest, or even a 4000 foot climb, but about a year or so after my double-bypass plus AVR my car got stuck in the snow and I had to walk home in the snow/sleet/rain, carrying two bags of groceries, going up/down many hills, for like 7-8 miles (I was able to get a ride hitchhiking...

    Alternative to Plavix

From what I understand without knowing the reasons behind it people that get stents get put on plavix for a period of time (usually a year) as a matter of one size fits all medical guidelines. When I had two stents put in about 5 years ago, DESPITE already being on warfarin AND 81mg of aspirin...

19 year anniversary with my bovine valve

My next door neighbor just had BOTH knees replaced at same time a few weeks ago. As far as I am aware normally folks only get one done at a time then after that heals they tackle the other one. For those on warfarin - I wonder if it makes more sense to tackle both at the same time? May be less...

New member with the usual dilemma

I didn't watch that video - and apologize for this sexist comment I will make mostly in jest - but that image suggests to me a 3 option choice of DESIRE on the left, a very attractive buxom young lady from the 1950's (judging by her hairdo) in the center, or IGNORANCE on the right. (What a...

New member with the usual dilemma

I'm only just now reading the first page of this thread. Seems like a lot of good advice/discussion going on so far. I just wanted to thank you for your post. Prior to this I had never heard of "dysautonomia" and had to look it up. Holy crap! This condition matches up with a lot of...

Where are you getting your supplies?

And the best thing about that is the free back bacon they include with every order! [Bonus points to anyone that has the slightest clue what I mean by that joke]

New member - choosing a valve

Easier said than done but turn off your brain and just go along for the ride, let the Drs/staff do their thing, next thing you know the Surgery will be over, the hospital stay will be a foggy memory, you'll be home on the mend, and back here letting us know how you're doing! When I was in the...

    First attempt at self dosing

Yes, in this regard (cost) we are lucky that warfarin is so cheap. The cheapest prescription drug I've ever been on anyway. I was without drug coverage for several months last year and had to pay 100% out of my own pocket. Thankfully warfarin was not that expensive (can't remember exactly but...

    Surgery coming up next week

Best of luck. No I don't want to say it that way, luck has nothing to do with it! I'll just echo some other posts in saying wishing you the best, no complications, no surprises, etc. And don't worry about it, this will all be in the rear view mirror soon and you should feel better than ever!

    First attempt at self dosing

Unfortunately here in the USA with the way our health care/insurance works we don't have a choice in brands. At least I don't - unless I have to pay for it out of my own pocket I guess. I have a limited network of pharmacies that are "in network" and "preferred" by my insurance. When they...

    First attempt at self dosing

Ditto for me. Whatever generic maker supplies the pharmacies my insurance allows uses those colors. Originally was different, at least in the pill shapes (I can't recall the original colors) but CVS switched to a different pill source I think.
