Surgery in a week! (Mechanical Bentall)

I do have fresh towels and shirts/robes and slip-ons ready to go! I have Blue Cross Blue Shield as my insurance. I guess I'll see what their policy is about this stuff, but I'll definitely make sure to clarify the post-discharge plan while I'm in the hospital, thank you for the advice everyone...

Surgery in a week! (Mechanical Bentall)

Thank you so much for the kind words and advice everyone, really can't tell you how much I appreciate it and how much it helps <3 About the recliner, I don't really have room in my apartment for one unfortunately. I got a set of memory foam wedge pillows so I can prop myself up in bed in a...

Hey everyone! Hope you're all doing well. My surgery is scheduled a week from today (May 3rd) :) I'm a bit anxious of course, but overall I'm feeling good about it. I'm looking forward to being on the other side and starting my recovery. My pre-op medical appointment went well—according to them...

28 yrs old with BAV & Severe AR

Another update: I will be having my surgery on Friday, May 3rd! (Notably not a Monday or in April but whatever, I'll take what I can get.) I'm taking 4 weeks off from my job (I work from home and at a desk so the surgeon said I should be able to go back in 4 weeks), and the leave is protected...

Chuck thank you so much! I agree on all points, super glad to be getting the 2-in-1 now. Also another piece of good news: they measured my EF at 63% on the echo a few weeks ago. Huge relief because about 9 months ago I got an echo that measured it at 54% and that was what kicked off the closer...

28 yrs old with BAV & Severe AR

Another update! I met the surgeon yesterday, Dr. Bhamidipati at OHSU will be doing it. He was very personable and friendly and immediately could tell I had done my homework. I said I wanted a mechanical valve with a root replacement, so we looked at my scans together and he agreed and said we'd...

    Hello all 👋🏻

Thanks for keeping us updated. It's really normal to worry, and I don't think you are complain-y or whine-y at all. I'm glad there's a place on the internet where we can all talk to each other about this stuff. It seems to me like you're doing everything you can to make sure you get the problem...

My follow up scans didn’t go as planned

I think it's very common in life, and especially in situations like this, to want answers and to know what's going to happen in the future. But, of course, no one can give you guarantees about that. And most people can't even give informed predictions about it, because everyone's circumstances...

Hey! Yeah absolutely, I'm usually the only person in their 20s or 30s when I go to the office heh. It's nice to talk to other people who have/are going through this in this part of their life! I'm glad to hear that, I think mechanical valves make a lot of sense for younger patients. Of course...
