Student - looking for information on mechanical heart valves

I might be visiting Purdue next week Friday with my son for a college visit. Might have a window to chat. I’ll check with my family. It’s a day for my son so that’s first priority. But there my be an hour break between tours a bit after noon. You can hear some ticking live and in person.

You might want to remove your phone number if you don’t want to see 20-30 spam calls ramp up to 200-300 scam calls. Just a suggestion.

After your surgery, what are some of the things that you found out that surprised you

Y’all want to get a bit choked up, try giving “100 Years” by Five for Fighting (it’s just one guy , but he’s Canadian so it’s a hockey name). Turning 50 this year, this song really gets me. He’s also got a song called “Superman (It’s not easy)” - so there you go.

    Aspirin in conjunction with Warfarin

That was a common range back then. I’m also managing to 2.5-3.5 and received my valve in 1990.

3 months post surgery, Doc wants to medicate me more than I'm comfortable with.

The challenge at your age is finding a cardiologist who specializes in adults with congenital heart defects. Heart defects are typically the domain of pediatric cardiology. Sounds like you’ve got a heart attack doc who go just doesn’t do congenital stuff. I’d be looking. I went through it...

    Confused about advice

In the US, a medical team would never advise someone to play a contact sport while on Warfarin. Could you imagine the liability? Don’t know what the liability rules are like in countries not so litigious as my own, but, “My child had a brain hemorrhage from a header and his cardiologist said...

Why its probably hard to stay in range for some...

I have no idea. I was talking to my wife about this. I went out of the country for three weeks about seven months after my first surgery. I was still 18. I’m sure I brought my meds with me. But I couldn’t test back then in another country. I know one of the first things I did was ignore my...

Why its probably hard to stay in range for some...

All good. I’m not suggesting anyone else should do anything different than what works for them. I take Warfarin, Metoprolol, and Aspirin in the AM. Metoprolol in the PM. If missing doses ever becomes an issue as I get older, I’m sure I’ll change my approach.

My orange juice glass is empty. Therefore I took my pills. Easy. 😁

    Aspirin in conjunction with Warfarin

First 19 years. No aspirin. Last 13 years (since my second OHS), 81mg aspirin. Since I take it consistently with my warfarin my warfarin dosing accounts for any impact it may or may not have on my INR. It’s larger random doses (for pain relief) that may interact warfarin dosing. I did...

Why its probably hard to stay in range for some...

I’ve never used a pill box. But I don’t like mnemonics either. It’s one more thing for me to remember. I do better if I just have to remember one thing. Not remember a thing that’s supposed to remind me of a thing I’m supposed to remember then try to recall what it was supposed to remind me...

Incredible drone work! Love that area! Minor change in music and I think it could be very relaxing. 😁

I don’t know what the usable iso is. I still use a speed light because underexposed images still have challenges of noise. My native iso goes up to 40,000. I like a speed light for fill flash with back lit portraits to cut down on bad shadows. I can lift shadows, but they still don’t look...

This is Grotto Falls off a trail that begins on the Roaring Forks Motor Trail. The hiking path goes behind the falls. Pretty cool. Maybe a mile and a half from the trail head. Abrams Falls off a trail the starts at the back of the Cades Cove area in GSMNP. A five mile out and back hike...

Shooting large format is an interesting project if you have he time. That’s a nicely done photo in keeping with the theme of the thread. Black and white works well there.

Thanks for the kind words. Tilt shift lenses are quite expensive for normal cameras. Large format film it’s built into the body. If I could spend whatever I wanted on toys, maybe I’d get one.

Fantastic. Thanks for sharing! I really like the lines in your fourth shot with the peer. I’m a waterfalls and mountains guy more than beaches and such. A few of my favorite waterfalls. Ramsay Cascades in Great Smoky Mountains National Park Soco Falls outside Cherokee, NC Not a...

Mechanical Valvers! Tell me about your travel experiences

HDR image I captured on our way down the Grand Canyon along the South Kaibob trail. Went down one day. Stayed over night at the bottom. Hiked out the next.
