INR difference between lab and my Coagucheck

I work in measurement and testing. I've had experiences where two measurement devices agree but not with a third. Sometimes it turns out the two that agree are wrong. I believe for INR testing the "gold reference standard" is a blood draw and laboratory test.

    Who is doing TAVR surgery?

I thought this was interesting, nurses doing TAVI: TAVI Turmoil: Did An ANP Perform Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement in the UK?

Need your opinion on these echo results... not trusting my doc.

I had stenosis and no symptoms. Based upon an echo, I was told I needed surgery to replace the valve soon (<2 months) because the symptoms of aortic stenosis are not seen in many patients before they suffer "the syndrome known as sudden death." (That's a quote from my cardio.) I had one spell...

Lovenox for bridging with a Mechanical Valve

Whether one bridges or not depends upon one's valve and how it is behaving. I am having a spinal injection on Friday for which I stopped warfarin on Sunday w/o bridging to get my INR to 1. The doctor's nurse mentioned my last echo results indicating I can just stop the warfarin for 5 days w/o...

INR difference between lab and my Coagucheck

I'd suggest asking whoever prescribes your warfarin to assess the disparity and suggest a course of action for your dosing and whether or not you should continue to believe the meter over the laboratory result. I would also contact the meter supplier and tell them about the disparity and ask...

    Lancets for INR testing

Per the meter's, Coagcheck XS, instructions: Warm your hand by holding it under your arm, use a hand warmer, and/or wash your hand with warm water. (Putting my hand in a bowl of hot water works for me. ) Hold your arm down by your side, so that your hand is below your waist. Massage your...

    Bridging with Lovenox

Sorry to read about your difficulties. I don't know squat about bridging so anything I'd say about it would be worthless. Good luck with your colonoscopy today.

New with endocarditis and possible valve replacement in the near future

You could do 2 mg one day and 1 mg the next. This works with warfarin, when my dosing was done by a clinic they had me doing different does on every other day, but I don't know anything about sintrom.

    9 Years and a question

Some people on this forum had trouble with their wires, but they were in discomfort, you are not. The wires can be removed if it ever happens to you.

    Warfarin and holiday

Blood in the urine can be a sign of things other than a high INR. I've had it and the problem was not at all related to my INR. An elevated INR just means you see the symptoms earlier. It can be you have a bladder stone, it is also an early sign of cancer per my urologist.

    Warfarin and holiday

I've seen no impact on my INR due to alcohol consumption. I was told 12 years ago by the hospital pharmacist's, warfarin instructor that alcohol doesn't interact with your warfarin and impact your INR unless you throw up the warfarin. The FDA's copy of the patient packaging instructions does...

    Lancets for Coaguchek Softclix lancet

I use the SoftClix pen-like device for INR testing that I got with my meter. You load it with needles that have white plastic tabs on the end. You can set the machine to plunge the needle in, but I sometimes didn't get a good stick no matter what the setting. Now I take off the top and just...

    Second Surgery 20 Years Later

The 2-3 INR range is a general recommendation and not valve specific. It's a good metric since it's conservative and a one-size-fits-all approach that requires no thought by doctors and a consensus range protects against lawsuits. However, the On-X has a range of 1.5-2 and my St. Jude is...

    Lancets for Coaguchek Softclix lancet

The SoftClix didn't work as well as I wanted. So now I take the top of the SoftClix and just stab in the full depth of the needle.

    Newly Diagnosed- Bodybuilding and Exertion

Taking steroids for recreational purposes is no more a lifestyle than taking heroin. Your steroid use could be the cause of your low testosterone. A quick search with Dr. Google gives this: Anabolic steroids may severely, and even permanently, impair testosterone production and fertility, new...

    Second Surgery 20 Years Later

I don't have a On-X valve, but have been down to 1.0 INR for awhile for medical procedures. My range is 2-2.5, but drops to less than 2 are not considered emergencies.

Inspiris Resilia vs On-x, can't decide

I have US blue cross and blue shield and self monitor and self manage. My cardiologist's practice doesn't like it, they want you to go to the coumadin clinic. However my cardiologist allows it, thus his practice allows it as well.
