End of March traveling to the US for my OHS

I'm pretty sure Dr Mee is still alive, just not at CCF unless he passed away recently and I didnt hear about it, from what I can remember w/ my 50+ old brain, there was some big fights at CCF about 10 years ago, I don't remember what all it was about,(NOT anything Mee was doing) but Dr Mee...

    Third surgery.. Mid twenties

I can't answer for Gail and what happened in her case. But from my understanding, it is not uncommon for some Heart surgeries that need the heart lung bypass machine, they deflate the lung or lungs when the person is on the heart/lung bypass machine partially or completely since the machine is...

Yes, I imagine youll miss your baby, but he probably will be much happier at home since you wouldnt be able to take care of him. and it would be alot of traveling which would be hard on both of you. Very Confuseion. Open to opinions and suggestions

Honestly from your experience and what your different doctors have told you I dont blame you for being confused. Since almost every doctors said things I've never heard before, or havent heard for quite a while. Most doctors in this day and age, would rec tissue valve for a patient almost 60...

    Road rage -Pradaxa- homicide?

Thank you. It is pretty sad for everyone, I'm sure a man like Mr Cena seems to be will really feel guilt over another persons death, not to mention both families. Here is a pretty recent article describing the risks of bleeds on Coumadin as well as the newer anticoagulants trials results...

    Road rage -Pradaxa- homicide?

It is sad and terrible for everyone involved, but I don't know if it would have made a difference what anticoagulant he was on, it might have, but Since he was unconscious an hour later, shortly after he called the ambulance because his head hurt so bad, my GUESS would be the damage from the...

    My Pillows for Driving

Have you ever tried the sheepskin seat belt harness covers? We got some for after Justin's surgeries, and they seemed to work well. He liked it better than his small pillows since it was attached and didnt have to place it between his chest and seat belt every time. his isnt where we got them ...

    Possible problem with sternal incision

Its possible it is the dissolving threads not dissolving but working their way out, which isn't a big deal, sometimes they can just pull them out or cut them, BUT its always best to get anything like that checked since it could be something else. Whenever Justin had problems w/ his incision we...

Wait time from diagnosis to surgery?

I'm sorry to hear you are having to wait to long and no answers. I live in the US, but remembered a few threads from people on Canada about waiting, I dont know if this helps http://www.valvereplacement.org/forums/showthread.php?37260-Frustrated-with-Alberta-Provincial-health-care-system&highlight=

Good Check up and some new advancements

I'm glad hannah app went so well It is always such a relief. Hopefully Hannah never needs another surgery but Tissue engineered valves, like you are talking about where they take a scaffolding stripped of cells and the patients own cells grow on them have been my hopes for awhile since Justin...

    Infected Valves

why are they expecting infection on your valves? Who orderred the blood work? Was it someone from cardiology or heart surgery? If so did they do any tests like an echo mri or ct scan to get a good look ar your heart and valves? At different times Justin had an infection in his blood and heart...

Blacked out, hit my head and concussed...can't wait to get off Metoprolol/Coversyl

I'm sorry to hear things are still going on.I am sure, (unless they are pretty heartless people) your work understands why you aren back full steam, I'm sure they know you rather not be dealing with all of this and the head ache and ear fluid and be at work too. I'm glad to hear your nose...

    Please help me out! :(

The problem is no one will guarantee a tissue valve will last a certain time no matter what your age, altho the have a better chance of lasting 15 or more years in a 50 year old than 27, OR noone can guarantee that if you get a mech valve you wont have a major clot or stroke. The real risk IMO...

Edwards to Begin U.S. Trial of SAPIEN 3 Valve for Intermediate Risk Patients

You know I've been trying to figure out what these various scores really mean for a long time. , I know one of the problems w/ the Euro scores, and why people did much better than the predicted risk, was they hadnt updated their scores in a couple decades, as surgeries improved so much but the...
