    I’m in the system!

I associate it with a *** change hope not! They told me aorta valve and ascending root. With mechanical valve, at the preop they were on board with self testing INR even said they would write a script for coagucheck.

    I’m in the system!

Tuesday my preop went well, and this morning I got the call to be at the hospital on Wed Dec 6 at 0730 for surgery, not sure to be happy or afraid. On the bright side it will be the surgeon that was originally assigned to me.

    I’m in the system!

Some of these procedures are amazing, almost like rebuilding an engine through the exhaust pipe. I’m a hands and eyes on kind of guy.

You mentioned a 'blood thinner.' Are you referring to Eliquis? clopidogril? Was on it for a while following a heart attack (myocarditis)

    I’m in the system!

I’ve been flip flopping back and forth, I’m thinking a mechanical now. Things are moving fast the scheduling department called and told me it maybe 9mo wait for surgery with the surgeon I have been seeing, but if I am willing to go with another surgeon it could happen in 1mo. I was curious why...

    I’m in the system!

I am a rancher so fairly active, most days on the move at least 4-5hrs more during calving season and haying. I am fairly organized and confident I could manage warfarin. For almost 1yr after my initial heart episode I was prescribed a blood thinner which allowed bruising at the slightest bump...

    I’m in the system!

First in Man trial of Warfarin free Mechanical Valve

https://hvpl.ok.ubc.ca/research/prosthetic-heart-valves/mechanical-heart-valves/ This valve maybe the one that eliminates the need for blood thinners, from what I have read it is still in the testing stage.

    Pending aortic valve replacement

It will be good to get a date for this procedure. There will be a lot of planning to work around 2-3mo of not being able to do much physical work, winter feeding of the cattle can be set up to just open gates and allow the cattle access hay bales 1 weeks worth at a time. Calving season is often...
