    Can someone help me?

At least you have a plan, Blake...... keep an eye on things and mark down your doses on your calendar or agenda. (i process Coumadin slowly and would be getting that Lovenox today, if it was me)

Tony, welcome to the other side ! The first week post op is a series of small steps in the long walk back to 'normal'. Take your time, and best wishes :)

Ouch, did that nurse stick you in the leg? I've only ever had 1 shot in 2006 and my daughter stuck it in my tummy.

    Can someone help me?

LOL...isn't that always the way ?! :) My farmer neighbour has been selling so much of his organic produce the past few weeks and we indulged. (INR was 2.9 yesterday) Yay, still in range. Got a bag of brussel sprouts in the fridge to enjoy with haddock tonight.

    Need advice on dosing change??

Hello Mary, Eva has given you excellent advice; no need to hold a dose for a slightly high INR when you will be finishing the antibs on Sunday anyway. :) Glad to hear that you got a Coaguchek XS and for a good price. Enjoy !

    Can someone help me?

Hi there, If you are truly concerned with the low INR of 1.8 and your past leg issues, then you could always go to a local hospital for a Lovenox shot to protect you immediately until you get your INR up over the next few days. I do agree that taking 6mg today will get the ball rolling towards...

    How will I know if it's A-fib?

My doctors appreciated that I had written down on my daily agenda my HR and BP as well as any 'episodes' for further reference or discussion. Hang in there.

Phil, let me repeat that you are doing great. Don't let the ramblings and errors of one particular member rain on your parade :)

    How will I know if it's A-fib?

Hi, my post op HR was just like yours and freaked me out, so I asked for Metoprolol to slow things down while the heart remodels itself. One night while in hospital (7th or 8th day) I woke in the middle of the night with a HR of 170.....doc gave me Sotalol and the HR calmed down again... Awful...

    The Bum Ticker Rides Again

Hello ! Sorry to read about your issues....and would like to share that my late Mom, who was never on Coumadin at all, had the same type of fragile skin. Just like tissue paper. She had marks everywhere, nobody could hold her, small scratches looked horrible. Mom was not a heart patient, she had...

Home monitoring ... I'm sure I'm doing it right, but ...

Yay---Coaguchek :) I order 24 test strips for the year , and test every 2-3 weeks. You should be fine, unless your INR needs adjusting, then you may need more frequent testing. Enjoy !

Home monitoring ... I'm sure I'm doing it right, but ...

Hi Phil, I see from your profile that you are an AVR "expert" and we share the same Regent valve. :) Regarding your INRs-----THEY ARE PERFECT, GOOD FOR YOU ! During the first few months post op it is a very good idea to test at least every 2 weeks if you have a steady diet and routine, or...

Question Re: Aneurysm Developing Post AVR

As far as I know I've got a 'normal' ascending aorta, but pre-surgery my aorta root was enlarged enough to get the surgeon's attention. It's the first thing that I check on my echo reports and so far-so good. We do have several members here who have had ascending aorta issues and hopefully they...

    Medical ID's

My opinion is "Better safe than sorry" :) LOVE my Medic Alert bracelet. Yes, I have a scar, visible sternum wires, audible mechanical valve, etc.....BUT if I am in an accident and another driver/pedestrian wants to help me, my MEDIC Alert bracelet provides my basic info: Anticoagulated...
