    Food diary.....do you use one?

DebbyA, some members have reported that long usage of antibiotics can affect their INR and others have also reported that travel can affect INR. I don't travel and I don't take antibs more than 1 dose for the dentist visit, so I can't help there, but otherwise make sure that any dose changes...

2nd OHS coming in 2015 for me!

Glad to see that Cam has had the surgery and is starting his road to recovery. When he is ready I can help him with INR home testing questions that he may have. I bought my own monitor (in Ontario) and have been using it for almost 8 years. It takes 5 minutes every couple of weeks. Best wishes !!!

    Food diary.....do you use one?

No problem at all with my INR and i have learned not to obsess about vitamin K. My meals are all prepared at home and are healthy.... Broccoli 2x weekly, organic spinach leaves 3x weekly, and a mix of carrots, peas, beans, brussel sprouts, etc. on random days. LOVE my veggies.

Uh Oh...skipped a dose of Warfarin

I remember very well how scared I was during the first few months post op. The key for me to become more relaxed with my INR was joining this group and buying my own home monitor.

    Antibiotics for Dental work

I've been going to the dentist for cleanings every 6 months, for 52 years. Yes, 52 years. My family is big on nice teeth and oral hygiene. :D Anyway, when I was around age 20 and my heart murmur was discovered it was recommended that I take the pre-visit dose of antibiotics and I have done that...

Uh Oh...skipped a dose of Warfarin

Danna, first of all, you will be FINE. Coumadin is a very slow acting drug-- so in that respect it is somewhat forgiving when a dose is missed. Most pharmacists agree that if you discover the forgotten dose within approx 12 hours, then you can take 1/2 dose right away and continue on your...

    Coumadin/Warfarin allergy testing?

This is a good question, and fortunately reactions or sensitivities are very rare with Warfarin. Some people may react to the filler or colourants in their particular brand or dosage, but my doctor prescribed the name brand Coumadin and it has worked well for me. There are a couple of generic...
