Switched from name brand Coumadin to Jantoven 7 days ago and now have nausea

I was switched from brand name Coumadin to Jantoven about 3.5 weeks ago. I had some issues with slight nausea for the first two weeks, but didn't make the connection until I saw your post. I am on bioidentical hormone patches so I was thinking maybe it was that. I got a terrible combo...

    For the women.....

Thank you Agian. My doctor didn't mention this, so that's reassuring. DachsieMom: I'm sorry you have this too. I started iron, and will be exploring my options. The last thing I want is more surgery, but must do something. Wishing you both the best!

Post-op Irritable Heart, Resting Heart Rate

Sorry. I misread that. I see now that you were only on Warfarin. Hoping that the cardiac rehab will help in weaning off the meds.

Post-op Irritable Heart, Resting Heart Rate

Hi. I'm glad to have found this post because the same thing is happening to me. I had AVR on 2/17/17, (medtronic open pivot valve) so I'm just over 2 months out. When I get up in the morning, my heart rate goes up between 120-150 just while I'm standing there to wash my face or brush my teeth...

    Heartbeat visible under skin

Yes. I am 16 days post-op, and can see my heartbeat under my left breast, across my sternum, and all the way down to just above my belly button. It's weird, and I thought it was due to me being so thin. But maybe it's just from the surgery? I'm still trying to get used to the increased heart...

    INR 5.8 after one week

Hi. I had surgery Feb 17. When I got home from hospital, they were checking INR every 2 days. It was 2.6 last check. Today they came after 6 days, and my INR is 5.8. I haven't changed any medicines. No idea why it shot up in a weeks time. Other than eating greens, is there anything I can do to...

What a ride/you can't make this stuff up/happy to be home:)

Thanks ladies. It seems like much less of an ordeal now that I'm away from there. But I don't particularly want to go back for more surprises. The hospital security guard was kind enough to let in homeless people at night. They had blankets and food, and then would all leave about 5 am before...

What a ride/you can't make this stuff up/happy to be home:)

Wanted to share my experience b/c reading yours has been such a great help. I deleted this, but have been asked to re-post. Please keep in mind that I wrote this on my way home, in the car, on very little sleep, in pain, and emotional. I will be sure, if there's a next time, to research my...

Surgery is behind me...home, alive, grateful

Thanks so much everyone. Finally heard word back from the hospital, and they cut the dose in half. That helped tremendously. My INR was also being checked every 2 days, and my cardiologist wanted a specific range. It was 2.2, and they wanted it higher. Then they disappeared on me. Called the...

Surgery is behind me...home, alive, grateful

Hi. Just had AVR on Friday, Feb 17, and wondering if anyone could help me with a couple questions. First, my heart is pounding much harder and faster than before. My heat rate before surgery was about 65-70. Now it's about 92, and if I walk around about 110-120. Sometimes 130. I'm wondering if...

ACC releases checklists to guide TAVR therapy

Thanks Duffey! I sure hope so. I'm still changing my mind about valves. I thought I had decided tissue, and then got a call from one surgeon today warning me that he just took out 2 tissue valves in patients my age last week....one that lasted 7 years, one that lasted 8....and he thought I'd...

ACC releases checklists to guide TAVR therapy

Welcome! I said I was a medical student when registering, which is kind of the truth....At least that's what I've felt like for the past few months. I wish I could find a report about the longevity of TAVR valves, but haven't seen one yet. Thank YOU, Michelle, for your support, guidance, and...

ACC releases checklists to guide TAVR therapy

Here's a link to a rather lengthy article that came out in January 2017 about TAVR therapy for anyone interested. To read the full text, one must register. I did, but as I am not a medical professional, it could not find my records and said I was not allowed on. Then I got an email the next day...

    mini stern/groin incision/AVR

matty , Thanks for that info. I'm glad to hear that your recovery went so well! I have heard of many people experiencing back and neck pain after surgery. I already have it, so will expect more. I am worried about this surgeon's experience, and am off to see another surgeon in another city...

    mini stern/groin incision/AVR

Hi, I met with my surgeon, and was hoping for a mini stern b/c of quicker recovery time, shorter hospital stay, etc. He said that if I have a mini-sternotomy for AVR, that it requires making an incision in my groin. My former surgeon never mentioned this, and I was under the impression that...
