    Hematuria and Aortic Valve Replacement

Thank you to everyone who responded. Your replies were excellent and much appreciated. I have more questions/comments for each of you. I don't know how to reply with snippets in boxes, so if I can't figure it out, I'll do it the long way with quotation marks.

    Hematuria and Aortic Valve Replacement

Hello. I'm not really new here. I last posted almost 10 years ago. My 64 year old husband has a bicuspid aortic valve which has now progressed to severe aortic stenosis. We have been in the waiting room for 22 years. He is asymptomatic, but the cardiologist asked me 3 times during the last...

    Question regarding heart failure

Anne, - one more thing I forgot to say. You are an incredibly strong woman, (as is the other gal), to go to all of your doctor's appointments alone. Wow. I was floored when I read that. So the lamb metaphor you used does not seem to fit you at all. Kudos to your Endo for asking for...

    Question regarding heart failure

Hi Paleogirl. I just got a birthday wish in my inbox from this website for my Bicuspid Buddy, so I thought I'd come by and check this site out again to see how "Paleogirl" was doing. Lo and behold, I found many threads recently started by you and I wanted to wish you all the best in January...

    The Asymptomatic Waiting Room

Thanks, yet again. As always, you are an incredible wealth of information ElectLive. After reading all of the info written here, even if cardio #1 agrees with cardio #2 regarding the lack of need to echo my daughters, I'll go to my GP with this lengthy study report and asked that they be tested.

    The Asymptomatic Waiting Room

Not that we are aware of. But I agree with you. For my own peace of mind I will encourage both of my girls to get tested. Knowledge is power. That's why this site is so great.

    The Asymptomatic Waiting Room

We returned from our 8 hour round trip with Cardiologist #2. I cannot tell you the relief we feel!! Follow-up echo and cardio exam was recommended in 2 years, and hubby can still continue to play B-ball and snowboard!!! The only thing he isn't allowed to do is back-pack up mountains or...

Awesome. Great to hear you are on the mend.

    TAVR vs AVR

Hi Norm, I couldn't find 'norm's story'. I found your long post-operative experience entitled 'norm's story . . . .", but I couldn't find your pre-operative experience with echo measurements, etc. If it's in a blog, for some reason this site states that I do not have permission to view blogs...

    The Asymptomatic Waiting Room

Thanks for all of the support. It's uncanny how just one line of what many of you write, can help alleviate anxiety. I've seriously been questioning the accuracy of the last portable echo since I read it 4 weeks ago. Hubby's LVEF was 65 - 70% as it has been for the past 10 years. How could...

    The Asymptomatic Waiting Room

Hello, I've been posting in the past few weeks and rudely, did not introduce myself. I am the wife (buddy) of one of the most wonderful men on the face of this planet. He happens to have a BAV AS. This is our story: Over 30 years ago, as a young inexperienced nurse (in my previous life), I...

    TAVR vs AVR

Great idea. I'll do that. I guess I just didn't want to come off as a whiner since I'm only the (terrified) spouse, not the patient.

My AVR Is On Friday And My Kids Are Sick

No it doesn't sound right. Perhaps she was thinking about supplements and herbal medicines in general, just in case they contained the following in them: Vitamin E, Gingko, Garlic, Fish oils, etc., etc., which are indeed "blood thinning" products and are definitely contraindicated before any...

    TAVR vs AVR

Thanks again Lyn. I guess what I'm looking for, is if there are any studies that are ongoing with BAV SAS patients who are less than 70 years old, who are having/ or have had TAVIs. The Partner I and II trials have BAV as an exclusion criteria. The only info I could come up with is that it...

would this bother you at all?

ElectLive, please don't ever stop posting. That was a brilliant response. You have no idea how valuable your posts are to people who are reading this forum that are looking for clear, rationale and intelligent information and opinions, on which to take further action regarding their own...

would this bother you at all?

Hi, pgammo. Just remember that people who are chatting on this forum are not cardiologists nor are they cardiac surgeons. They are people like you and I who are trying to make sense of things and numbers and everything else. If an AVR was recommended for you, then someone must have had some...

would this bother you at all?

Jeez. I wonder if that type of discrepancy ever happens regarding mitral and aortic regurgitation? Have you had those kind of discrepancies with your atrial sizes? AVA measurements? pressure gradient measurements? Are you having the echos done on the same machine by the same people, or on...

    TAVR vs AVR

More very good info. Thanks for that find Lynlw. It's hopeful that the devices are improving for TAVR. I suppose the proof in the pudding will be in the years to follow regarding device longevity, efficacy, etc. Where would one get info regarding data on the subjects studied? Exclusion...
