    Supplements, Diet and Warfarin

Never. Nor does hubby. And we're not boring, I promise! I posted in another response that I was an ICU/CCU/ER nurse 40 years ago. I saw a lot of bleeding. Warfarin has always scared me. But in reading this forum, it's very apparent that you folks know much more than the medical profession...

    Joint Injections while on Warfarin

Exactly what I hoped to hear!!! Fantastic!!!! Yes, PRP and prolo are amazing when well-indicated.

    Joint Injections while on Warfarin

Possibly, depending on the trauma sustained (affecting other supporting tissues other than just the meniscus which is avascular), and depending on what type of injection is done, and etc. My husband would not have been able to play full-out basketball until age of 59 without having had...

    Joint Injections while on Warfarin

Great. I figured that was the case. Thanks for confirming Pellicle! What about deep injections right into the joint (like cortisone, Synovisc, prolotherapy)? True, joints (synovial capsule, cartilage, etc.) are primarily avascular, however, there is the periarticular vascular plexus that...

    Joint Injections while on Warfarin

Hi again. You have all been so helpfully informative. For those on Warfarin, what do you do about injections right into the joint for sports injuries/ osteoarthritis/ etc.? Injections like cortisone, Synovisc, prolotherapy, etc.? What about a less invasive Rx like acupuncture? Do you not do...

I guess you're savouring every bite of the elephant every day. Good on you!! You're the ultimate inspiration.

    Supplements, Diet and Warfarin

Wow. You're truly a bionic Steve Austin $6 million dollar man. (I'm dating myself here). What do you mean by "big dogs"? People your age? or much younger and your SAVR plays no role in your aging process? Just that you can't do what a healthy 70 year old could do, let's say?

    Supplements, Diet and Warfarin

Thanks. Your entire post was informative again. I was an ICU/ER/CCU nurse in my former life 4 decades ago, and it's hard for me to wrap my brain around 20 mg for a maintenance dose being okay and nothing to worry about, even though I understand that the INR is the key.

    Supplements, Diet and Warfarin

Why do you think you are taking a relatively higher dose of Warfarin than say the folks taking 4 or 6 mg? You're taking oral Vitamin K1, but the study Chuck posted said that oral Vitamin K1 stablizes INR. 🤔 Blessing indeed, and hubby and I are only on the start of this journey . . . .

Another thumbs up for vegetables and salad. Great! I'm breathing a sigh of relief.

    Supplements, Diet and Warfarin

So I guess you're saying that dosage doesn't matter (but 12 mg would seem a bit scary to me), but it's the INR that matters to keep it within the target range. Again, thanks for the very useful info on INR management. Yes, I would love to hear about this. Well, given we have been in the...

    Supplements, Diet and Warfarin

Again, very hopeful. Thanks! Very, very true. If hubby goes for mechanical, I hope he tolerates the Warfarin like most of you folks on this forum. Phew!! Good to hear about the Vitamin C.

    Supplements, Diet and Warfarin

Thanks Andy. Your entire post was filled with valuable info. I'm so thrilled about the CoQ10 and fish oil!!! If hubby ends up going for the mechanical valve, we too will become experts on INR self-management just like the rest of you on this forum. How much Warfarin do you take, and is your...

    Supplements, Diet and Warfarin

Wow. This is very hopeful. Holy moly ****. You are a testament to modern medical miracles and still ticking at 87! Have you only had 1 mechanical AVR, or did you have more surgeries in those 56 years? What kind of brand/type of mechanical valve do you have? If you've had more surgeries, how...

    Supplements, Diet and Warfarin

Fascinating study. Thanks for sharing. Chuck, you are a man after my own heart: broccoli sprouts, mediterranean and pescatarian! That was encouraging to read. Just curious. How much Warfarin do you take?

    Supplements, Diet and Warfarin

I perused this forum and only found smatterings of info, like CBD oil, fish oil, Vitamin D, and tumeric with regards to changes in INR. What about the following supplements: Vitamin C, Magnesium, CoEnzyme Q10, Plant sterols, Pomegranate, Tocopherols, Quercetin, Zinc, Iodine (kelp drops)...

    Hematuria and Aortic Valve Replacement

Again, thanks a bunch!! That was really helpful . Like you, everything has been ruled out for my hubby with US, CT, blood tests, semen analysis, and cystoscopy. I just love the positive slant on taking Warfarin that you imply! It's like you have a sensitive indicator on a dashboard to get...

    Hematuria and Aortic Valve Replacement

Thanks so much for your post. That was really helpful and informative. My husband has hematuria due to a protrusion of prostatic tissue into the bladder (moderate BPH). I was fortunate to be in the room and observe the screen during the cystoscopy procedure and see the mild inflammatory...

    Hematuria and Aortic Valve Replacement

Good to know. I forgot that other anticoagulants didn't have a quick reversal plan. I live in Canada. I do not know what is available here. I would probably need to purchase something from the US. If we end up going the Warfarin route, I'm really hoping that I can purchase something that we...

    Hematuria and Aortic Valve Replacement

Thanks! My husband would not read this forum years ago because he was too scared. Then I showed him your posts, that were so positive and inspirational, and he is starting to read this forum with me now. Of course there is fear because everything doesn't always work out as planned, but it...
