9 Questions for Those with BioProsthetic (Tissue) Valves

Small sample size But yeah, you're probably right. Really old people with tricuspids often die of something else even if their valves are stenotic.

9 Questions for Those with BioProsthetic (Tissue) Valves

However, google likely lumped BAVs in with normal tricuspids. I think this important variable could factor into conjecturing about this topic. What do you think?

    Cardiac catheterization

I'm answering my own question again. We can fly home 24 hours after procedure. (Well we are saving ourselves $2200 to forgo CT angio at a private diagnostic clinic, as cardio wants coronary catheterization angio at this point, now that he has looked at hubby's ECG, and due to being the "gold...

9 Questions for Those with BioProsthetic (Tissue) Valves

What type of tissue valve was it, and is it TAVR ready, or did your surgeon say a valve-in-valve was an option for you in the future if necessary? Thanks!

    Cardiac catheterization

I'm answering my own question in case it may be helpful for others. Clearly, there are very different ways of doing things regarding surgery, hospitals, in different countries, testing, etc. That's why they call medicine an art, even though guided by science. Our cardiologist last November...

9 Questions for Those with BioProsthetic (Tissue) Valves

Did your cardio or surgeon say it would be possible that in the very distant future, should you require another operation, that a TAVR could be done within your Magna Ease valve?

    Cardiac catheterization

Why did your cardio and/or surgeon opt for the catheterization angio vs the CT angio?

    Cardiac catheterization

In BC, Canada, the wait time for a CT angio is 1 year. So obviously we will be going with a coronary angiogram via catheterization instead of CT (my guess is femoral entry), and probably within the next month whenever we get the call. We will be asking our cardio as well as the interventional...

34 Year old man awaiting Aortic valve replacement / repair

I understand that everyone is individual, with different desires in life, different advice given by different surgeons, etc., etc. However, I'm curious, since you are old enough to look back, you have lots of experience, and you appear to be very athletic. With what you know now, and all of the...

34 Year old man awaiting Aortic valve replacement / repair

Hi. I understand that your third surgery was to fix the aneurysm. But why did your mechanical valve that you had inserted 22 years prior, also need to be replaced? Thanks in advance.

Discussion about aortic aneurysm from Dr. Birdi

OMG. I just came back to delete this part of my previous post so I didn't look so stupid, but I see you were too efficient in responding and I can't edit your post! Ha! It has been a long flight and I was tired. I plead stupidity due to tiredness. Good to know!! You are so full of...

Discussion about aortic aneurysm from Dr. Birdi

Hi Chuck. I must have missed this post on my search for info. Do you know how the measurement is calculated? All I see on hubby's echo is in mm not cm: aorta sinuses 36 mm and prox ascending aorta 37 mm. I wonder how you got 3.6 cm? Did your surgeon say how much more of a surgical risk a...

Bicuspid Aortic Valve and possible future aortic dilatation

Hi again. Does anyone have any data on the possible development of aneurysm/dilation in someone with BAV with severe asymptomatic stenosis needing repeat surgery for this problem alone? Hubby is leaning toward mechanical because one and done is very appealing, but one and done may not be one...
