I can't get life insurance anymore after my surgery. Suggestions.

I've $750000 life insurance with Voya. I signed up 1 yr before my AVR surgery with ING, which was then bought by Voya. You can go through selectquote.com and let them know about your heart condition, so that they can choose companies which provide life insurance for heart patient.

    St Jude Valves

We all would love to be on generic if it works, since it's almost free. My INR was stable just after surgery and i used to get my warfarin from CVS at that time (probably Teva), but then last year, I moved warfarin prescription to Walmart and had some other medical changes, things have not been...

    St Jude Valves

I only did lovenox once when I was testing only once a week and my INR went from 2.9 to 1.4 after missing my warfarin for 1 day. I consulted with my cardiologist and nurse and decided to go with lovenox the next day. Now, I'm testing twice a week (even though i don't need to), but till my INR...

    St Jude Valves

You're right. I only did lovenox once and probably wont do it again, unless my INR goes too low. But now with me testing twice a week, there is probably no need. I still plan to keep lovenox at home (for emergency). I think i got 4 injection for $80 and they expire Dec 2020. I don't mind...

    St Jude Valves

Sometimes my INR goes from 2.5 to 3.2 in the span of 3 days, and that's why i test at lab on Wednesday (covered by insurance) and test at home on Sunday (almost free except strips). I've direct access to my nurse (her personal cell), so that I can talk to her and get advice. Few months ago i...

    St Jude Valves

My INR range was initially set 2.0 - 3.0. I was taking 15 mg warfarin every day (without baby aspirin) to maintain my INR range, but i accidentally took (10 mg of warfarin + 5 mg of crestor) instead of taking (10 mg + 5 mg of warfarin). Next week testing showed my INR to be 1.8 and my nurse did...

    New Coag-Sense meter

my cardiologist approved home testing after 90 days. I think that restriction was placed by the insurance company

    New Coag-Sense meter

Thats true, most of the people will not need it, if they test weekly. I keep loveneox at home, because even with weekly testing, my INR fluctuates drastically in 2-3 days. I'd situations where my INR has gone down from 2.9 to 1.4 in 2 days (1 missed INR dosage)

    New Coag-Sense meter

IMHO, it's always good to have 4 Lovenox injections at home with expiration 12 months in future and test at home. That way, you can always administer lovenox, if INR goes sub-therapeutic.
