Anyone beside me having issues with the Cleveland Clinic? Cancelling my surgery

When I had my surgery, I went to a local hospital in San Diego. All the bills came separately, so maybe the CC hospital's part is what they will accept but the doctors & tests will be bill separately. My total charge-before insurance was over your $275k. I was really happy with my doctor and...

18th valversary for my bovine valve

@Survived03 Maybe he's talking about a TAVR, since he's 71? My doctor told me TAVR last 5 years and good results up to 10 years, but after that, the data isn't there yet.

Hoping 3rd time is the charm

Glad your surgery is over and you're on the mend! Your surgery sounded very challenging! I also have a On-X 21mm valve @ 64 turned 65 when I left the hospital. It'll be 3 years in December. Praying for your recovery!

Post surgery July 20, 4 procedures done at once.

I also had a thoracentesis after my On-x valve in 2020. It was the first big wave of COVID and I could only walk (leave my room) one time a day in the hospital. Another exam was scheduled 2 days after I went home to see if anything changed. Nope, so I had the thoracentesis and it was amazing...

    Visible pulse in the chest

When I was diagnosed with a BAV, my doctor told me to come back in 10 years. LOL It was working good. I finally went in for an exam about 13 years later. After that, the visits/tests went to yearly and 3 years later, it needed replacing. Go live your life and go to your yearly visits!

    Lancets for INR testing

@Superman I also use the single use lancets. During the summer my hands are warm enough but when it's cooler, I put my hand under my arm or on my tummy. Then I use the rubber band method (thanks @pellicle ). The times I have problems getting a sample is when my fingers won't get warm enough...

INR - How low should you go?

I turned 64 when I got my On-X and my surgeon said 1.5 to 2.5 was good, my doctor said 2.0 to 3 was better. I wanted 2.5 to 3, so I'm not close to the edge of the cliff!

What have you been doing lately?

@Protimenow we had a kitchen leak a few years ago. It's tough! I feel your frustration! You'll get through it! We've been camping off grid the last 2 weeks, in the white mountains AZ. No cell service within about 2 miles! Lots of walking, hiking off roading in my jeep!

Just found out I have a BAV

I have an On-x since December 2020 because of a BAV. It's what my doctor put in. My INR range is 2.5 to 3. No one has heard my "ticking", even my husband. Every once in a while, at night, I'll hear it from within. If it's annoying me, I'll adjust a bit and it's quiet or I just enjoy it...

    Surgery Tomorrow

Yes I was on amiodarone and metoprolo for 30 days only. Then about 8 months later, I had a few issues of a racing heart beat (170 to 195). My doctor wanted me to go back on metoprolo but I didn't want to. So he thought an ablation might work to help but ended up not needing it. In looking...

    NEWBIE: Needs advice

I was considering a TAVR for my surgery. The 3 doctors I talked to before my surgery, said either would be good for me, because of my age. My heart team wanted me to talk with the TAVR surgeon and the OH surgeon for the mechanical, to be sure I understood the choice they gave me. I was 64 and...

    Surgery Tomorrow

Kyle, this happened to me too, on my 3rd day, in the hospital. Also, I had it a few times at home the first week home, then a year later had a few more. None since then. The first few times are really scary! Wishing you a speedy recovery!
