First post from Maryland - advice and support needed!

Glad you're on the mend and hopefully soon, you'll be home! Hope they get your "tickle" under control soon! Frustrating, I'm sure! About the food, I had the same thing, nothing tasted good! It lasted a few weeks. Also, smells really bothered me too and it seems everyone who worked in the...

    Exercise Test

It helped the doctors to see I needed the surgery sooner rather than later. The TAVR doctor wanted me to speak with a sergon about the on-x valve to be sure I understood the difference. Before that appointment I started researching the on-x valve, then read even more on the TAVR. The...

    Exercise Test

I had a echo stress test prior to surgery and didn't enjoy it too much. It was for preparations for the TAVR procedure. (I ended up changing my mind and went with the OnX valve.) I've just looked at the report again. The test was ended because I became excessively hypertensive with stress...

Staying the Course: Merry Month of May 2021 Edition

That's cool you did the runs up there! Beautiful place to celebrate your anniversary! We lived in Bishop for 5 years (1995). We've done quite a few hikes but no races. Lone Pine area has some pretty wonderful hikes! We'll have a day trip or two down there! We'll be camping on Silver Lake...

    CryoLife On-X INR Claims

I received the same notice and was baffled by why they even sent it out. At first, my clinic wanted me around 1.5 but I resisted and wanted it at 2.5 to 3. My doctor supported what I wanted and now the clinic goes by what I ask. I also take a daily aspirin.

Staying the Course: Merry Month of May 2021 Edition

Thank you Superbob for starting this! Yikes for your friend with the prep for her surgery, then having them cancel it! That will be interesting to hear about! It was a sunny morning but turned a little cloudy/chilly in the afternoon here. The first part of the week was in the 90’s, then today...

How long you had the MV for (when)? 4 months, Dec. 2020 Why did you get the MV (disease, congenital, emergency)? Aortic stenosis and bicuspid aortic valve What is life on warfarin like? My life is about the same as before my surgery except, I feel so much better and have more energy! Ever had a...

I've crossed the line into severe and need to make a decision

Hi Chuck, You’re doing great!! Impressive actually! I can relate about the hospital not releasing you and the frustration. Reading about your hospital stay sounds similar to my stay. I had severe bicuspid valve replaced with an on-x valve Dec. 2nd 2020. I was one day in ICU, then on my 2nd day...

    Warfarin app

It charts INR readings, it keeps track of your medications, appointments. There's a reminder to take your meds too. I like it for the history of my readings. It displays as a list or a chart. You can export the info also. I use it for the history.

    Low INR

Hi Tina, I had my aorta valve replaced Dec. 3. with an on-x valve. This week I'm finally close to my 2.5 level that I want to be. It was my first time over 2! (my dose this week was 9 mg/day) There were 4 weeks I was at 1.3, even though the clinic kept upping my dose. That was scary for me! I...

Back on the merry-go-round, or just caffeine?

Protimenow It sure is frustrating going through all that! Hang in there!! After my On-X valve surgery Dec. 3, 2020, I had fluid around my lungs. It was difficult to breath, even after my tubes were removed. My doctor had an x-ray ordered for my 4th week home. The liquid was getting worse not...
