Just found out today--Ascending Aortic Aneurysm has gotten larger---feeling scared!

I can understand the feeling of fear you must be going through. My root grew from 4.6cm to 4.9cm in the space of two years. I didn't know I had dilation of the root, nor did I pay any attention over the years as my first surgery was performed at 8, and being that young you don't quite understand...

    Repeat Surgeries

I've seen someone post about having their fourth surgery on this forum. Didn't hear back from them since.

    Mech Valve Coping Survey

Yeah, my thumping increases/gets louder when I breathe in, I assume it's because the heart has to work harder with more oxygen?

    warfarin dose issues

I had a re-op this year and was given a mechanical carbomedics valve to replace the aortic valve (pulmonary valve) I had from my ross procedure at 8.

    warfarin dose issues

I was out travelling today and noticed I didn't have the correct dosage with me for warfarin. My normal dose is 6mg on the weekends and 5mg during the weekdays. I decided to take 6mg today as I only had the packet for 3mg doses today and will decide to take 4mg tomorrow and continue with 5mg...

    how to adjust warfarin dose

My normal dose is 5mg mon to fri and 6mg on the weekends. I'm out travelling today and only took a 3mg dose box with me. I was wondering if It would balance out if I took 6mg today and took 4mg tomorrow and continued with 5mg after that as normal. Pellicle, if you're reading this, I'd...

    Noisy valve

Hi mate, I've had mine for 3 months now. I can't say it gets quieter, but you do become accustomed to it, up to the point that your mind completely blocks out the sound because it becomes a natural part of you, if that makes sense? I'm getting there, but you learn to live with it. At one point I...

    Nightmares after surgery

Hi, I wasn't offered any counselling when I was 8. I didn't think much of the op back then, it was only recently when I found out about my need for a second surgery, did I begin to worry and experience hypochondria. This stress has long gone, but I agree, it does make sense.

    Nightmares after surgery

Thanks for your reply Paleogirl, I'm only taking Warfarin currently, and nothing else. I find GP's completely useless, so may wait until my cardiology appointment in October. (Hopefully by then they're not around).

    Nightmares after surgery

Hi guys, I am now 3 months post op, and have been having nightmares such as my surgeon telling me we need to operate again as my valve is leaking or that my valve is making a lot of noise(Pretty dumb dreams, which feel terribly real in the moment). Has anyone experienced anything similar after...

    Blood Pressure and Warfarin

Do you eat food that contains a lot of added sugar? I found by reducing foods with added sugar, I was able to lower my BP a lot. Also stress can be a contributing factor.

Migraine triggered by heart rate with exercise

I found the complete opposite happening to me. Personally the typical visual migraines that would last for an hour, followed by a headache have disappeared since starting on warfarin. I get visual lights for maybe a minute to 5 minutes but they stop.

How long were you sore for?

I had my surgery on the 7th of April and still feel slighly sore at the top of the sternum, but nothing which affects my day to day life. I've been prescribed on a cardio rehab class at the hospital, which runs weekly. That's done wonders for my confidence by exercising in a controlled...

    Pulmonary Valved conduit

I know we've spoken, but I don't think I've given you much information about my conduit. While my aortic valve was severely leaking, my pulmonary conduit, which contained a pulmonary homograft was only mildly leaking and not severely (And this was after 15 years). I believe this has something to...

    Mild clicking in sternum

Does it cause you any pain? I only ask, because I've had my surgery last month on the 7th, and it's been almost 5 weeks, but I felt an odd vibration/wheezing sensation at my lower rib area on the left side, which would often disappear as I slept on my right side. I felt a clicking when I...
