How much Warfarin Amount do you take?

I have a tissue valve and also on warfarin. I take 3 mg M-W-F and other days 4.5 mg. Next time I talk to the cardiologist I will ask why I can't just take 4 mg daily (would go from 27 to 28 mg per week). My range is 2-3 and I'm in the low 2 range lately. I have the test at a clinic every 5 weeks...

COVID-19 - How are you spending your time?

I'm working but only 4-6 hours at work and then some hours at home. I work in an electronics lab and need to use equipment so need to go in for some work. Also walking/running outside as much as possible. Limiting trips out of the house to mostly grocery shopping and exercise. On Sunday our...

    Staying the Course Feb 12-16

I haven't posted in a while, nothing exciting going on here. Weight is slowly going down now. Only 10 more pound to lose. Just eating less when I think of it. I used to run very long distances. Now that I don't I think my metabolism has slowed way down. I'm still walking some and trying to run...

    Staying the Courses

SB, sorry to hear this but you need to do what's best for you. Haven't checked in for a few weeks. I lost the weight gain from the holidays and cruise. This past week I was able to walk 18 miles. Starting to walk more hills to prepare for the Run Through the Vineyard race in April. Super Bowl...

    Staying the Course -- 01/01/2020

Happy New Year to everyone. Looks like I gained some weight during the holidays, maybe 3 lbs. I don't know if it was from Christmas or the short cruise we took. I have 2 weeks off this year with holidays and vacation time. I'm trying to run/walk most days. Today was 3 hilly miles. I did 11 miles...

    Staying the Course -- 11/Thanksgiving Eve/2019

Happy Thanksgiving. It's raining here in Southern California so staying in most of the day. We're celebrating tomorrow so our daughter and family can join us. Their drive will be much easier on Friday. SB, I was on warfarin for 6 months post-op with my porcine valve. It's not a big deal. I'm...

SB, tell the nurses that you need the suture out or you will do it yourself. All you need is a pair of tweezers, finger nail clippers and then pull across the opening. Of course clean with alcohol. I bet they'll take it out for you. I did 5 1/2 miles on Sunday and ran around half of it with my...

SB, congratulations on the weight loss. I'm just maintaining, can't seem to get lower right now. Got so busy lately that I forgot to go for my blood test for Warfarin! Oops. Due date was Halloween day. My bruise is slowly fading away, probably take a couple more weeks. The soreness is finally...

    Staying the Course -- 10/21/2019

SB, good news on the CR. 32 session is good! I think I got 18 sessions. Recovering from a hard fall last Sunday. Carrying some wood down my slope in the backyard and the step I stepped on rolled. My feet went out from under me and I came down hard. I landed on a railroad tie, upper bum (British...

SB, glad you're home. The coumadin thing shouldn't be that difficult. There's lots of support and knowledge here. The scale has been my friend. It's been slow but down to 180-181 now. A few months ago it was 183-184. When I bend at the waist the stomach feels like it goes in instead of out...

    Staying the Course -- 10/08/2019

SB, glad to see you back. I'm trying to go to a 4 day work week to reduce my blood pressure. Work stress is too much now. I'm slowly working on running more and walking less. Hope to do a 5K this fall. Recent doctor visit, valve sounded good. Where is everyone?

To get the thread back on track

I just visited this section and read the "Point of Order" rules. I had "minimally invasive" surgery for my Mitral valve and I didn't get the zipper. My incision is under my right pec and is barely visible now. Hard to take that picture with a shirt on. If I can figure it out I'll post something...

Wow Rich01, glad to hear you're doing better. Hope it continues. Went to Kauai a couple weeks ago for my granddaughter's 3rd birthday. Did a 2 hour hike in Waimea canyon to the top of a waterfall. Lots of up and down. Had a good time there and was able to do a couple long walks. Passed my 7th...

    Post-op Beer

My surgeon ordered a glass of wine post op at the hospital, I think it was 3 days after surgery. I have found that 2 drinks is ok for me, but more than that and I don’t feel well the next morning. Depends on the alcohol content too. You need to experiment to see how your body reacts and if it...

    Staying the Course -- 08/12/2019

I saw SB call me out a while ago. I've just been busy. Took a trip to the Midwest to visit family and when I came back to work I was slammed with work and a couple URGENT jobs that are still going 3 weeks later. I think it's winding down now. I'm not walking as much as I need to and with the...
