    do not even think about it I have an ON-X valve......desired INR range 1.8 to 2.2.... I take 5 mg per day of Coumadin and an 81mg aspirin.

    cwm123- Wow tough decision. A third AVR at 70-75. More power to you. I have the ON-X VALVE. all is well. Coumadin has not been a problem. I was very fortunate that I did not have to go with another valve due to the necessity to take other medications.

    I started out thinking tissue...glad I choose an On-X mechanical. Just past 3 years post surgery. It sounds and looks great. Coumadin no problem...my range is 1.8 to 2.2. I self test at home every two weeks with the CoaguChek XS meter. Life is good! Best of luck with your upcoming surgery!

    Very interesting news from my cardio surgeon

    I have an ON-X valve. I take an aspirin a day in addition to my Coumadin. My cardio has me in the INR range of 1.8 to 2.2.

    Life Expectancy after Valve Replacement

    The obvious answer to me is...much longer than if you do not have the surgery! My mother is 92......my family history says that now that I have had the surgery... that is a reasonable expectation.
